Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

Classroom/Laboratory Management Manage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Curriculum Development Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.

Resource Management Manage equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for instructional activities.

Student Assessment Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

Student Advising Advises students on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey.

Collaboration: Collaborate with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Meeting Participation Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making.

Promotion and Recruitment Promote educational programs, participate in student recruitment efforts, and support initiatives to retain students.

Student Support Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.

Industry Engagement Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.

Evaluation and Professional Development Complete program evaluations, engage in continuous professional development, and stay current in the field.

Additional Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.


Qualifications

Hours & Schedule: This is a Full-time position and hours vary based on class assignments. Typically classes are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. With occasional weekday nights, depending on class assignments

Educational Requirements:

Must have one (1) of the following:

  1. Associate's degree or higher in any discipline with required licensure -OR-
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years or equivalent (14,000 hours) of experience as a licensed EMT; AEMT; Intermediate or Paramedic at or above level taught with required licensure.

Occupational Experience:

Must have two (2) years full-time or equivalent (4,000 hours) of work experience as licensed EMT, AEMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic at or above the level taught. In addition, one of the following must be met:

  1. One year (1) of work experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years.
  2. Two (2) years of instructional experience in Emergency Medical Services coursework at the post- secondary level within the last five (5) years.

{One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3.04}

Industry or vendor certification: Must have the following:

  1. Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the health care provider level
  2. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the levels of intermediate and paramedic levels

Licensure: Must hold at least one of the following:

  1. Current State of WI EMT-Basic
  2. Current State of WI Intermediate Technician (AEMT) license
  3. Current State of WI Intermediate license
  4. Current State of WI Paramedic license

Must be able to obtain State of Wisconsin EMS Instructor I license at time of appointment. Must obtain a State of Wisconsin EMS Instructor Il license within two (2) years of appointment.

Standards of Teaching Excellence Understanding Students and Fostering Student Success, Classroom Management, Planning/Organization, Content Mastery and Currency, Teaching Methodology, and Assessment of Student Learning Professional Contributions Essential Technology Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook),Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system, and Computer - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google

Essential Supportive Technology Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters

  • Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems

  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology

  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)


Supplemental Information

Interview As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare a teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes in addition to additional questions, which may be conducted in-person or virtually.

Salary is listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal equity, and a review of the applicant's employment and educational background
