Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for a Tax Accountant.

Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., your local Caterpillar dealership, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our growing team of established and successful professionals.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for sales and use tax compliance, personal property tax compliance, processing real estate and personal property tax bills, corresponding with taxing authorities, and assisting and educating company personnel. Additional duties assigned as necessary.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and files all sales and use tax returns, including payment of tax and journal entries in Microsoft D365.
  • Verifies validity of exemption certificates provided by customers.
  • Provide sales tax support to both colleagues and customers.
  • Responsible for internal audits of sales tax compliance policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sales and use tax administration.
  • Prepares and files all personal property tax returns, including payments of tax.
  • Processes all real estate tax payments and assessments.
  • Prepares federal excise, annual reports, business privilege and mercantile tax returns.
  • Responsible for year-end 1099 filings.
  • Prepares unclaimed property returns.
  • Responsible for administering and calculating imputed income.
  • Responsible for maintaining state registrations and licenses
  • Perform other duties as necessary.



Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:



  • Excellent organizational and verbal / written communication skills.
  • Knowledge for Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.) required.
  • D365 experience a plus.
  • Excellent tax research knowledge and abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task on various projects.


Background Training and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field required.
  • 1-3 years of tax and/or accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with S-corporations and shareholder matters a plus.
