Responsibilities

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment. This position is a hybrid model that will require commuting to our Atlanta, GA office 3 days a week

    • Provide mechanical design and 3D Revit support for multiple projects in the Commercial, Healthcare, and Education industries.
    • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments with the overall responsibility for budget and schedule adherence, quality control and inter-discipline coordination.
    • Responsible for creating, influencing, and finalizing designs involving plumbing systems including but not limited to domestic cold and hot water systems, sanitary and vent systems, natural gas systems, compressed air systems, fire protection systems including but not limited to sprinkler systems (wet and dry type), and clean agent systems.
    • Will work with the design team, Engineers, Project Managers, Clients, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
    • Coordinates with the project engineer for design guidance as required.
    • Coordinate needs, designs, and develops an understanding with other design disciplines (Civil, Architectural, Structural, Electrical, etc.) for design package needs.
    • Serves as a job captain on single discipline projects.
    • May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicate them to the team.
    • Performs field verifications / site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. May troubleshoot design problems in the field during construction.
    • Completes design work on engineering/architectural projects ranging from small to large scope.
    • Reviews project construction submittals for conformance with the contract documents.
    • May represent the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.
    • Travel required
    • Valid driver's license required.

  • Competitive Salary: $66,000 - $78,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and certifications.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in the engineering or architectural fields preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years related designer experience with former employer(s).
  • Experience with the design and specification of various types of piping systems such as compressed air and medical gas.
  • Experience with Fire Protection design (wet, dry, clean agent, etc.) and domestc cold and hot water, sanitary and vent.
  • Certified Plumbing Designer preferred
  • Proficiency in REVIT required.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Navisworks, PIPE-FLO or similar hydraulic modeling software is a plus.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of International Building Codes, ASHRAE Standards, ASPE Standards, and NFPA Standards.
  • Experience in Commercial, Education, Aviation, and Healthcare projects, mainly.
