Job Description:

Summary:

This position is responsible for the design and development of curriculum for instructor-led and online learning programs throughout the Enterprise. The Instructional Designer will partner with authors, managers and subject matter experts in curriculum development, course design and material. They will work closely with the curriculum developers and documentation coordinators to maintain learning support resources. Serve as a liaison between Learning & Development and all training functions in the organization to foster collaboration about learning & development. This position will work on a wide variety of projects and must be able to handle multiple projects effectively.

Essential Accountabilities:

All levels

  • Responsible for the design, analysis, and development learning content for instructor-led training (ILT), virtual-instructor led training (VILT), eLearning and blended learning experiences.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining learning content in the organization's Learning Management System.

  • Partners with subject matter experts, management, and learning professionals to develop content and improve existing curriculum.

  • Designs training materials, job aides, and e-learning content for all areas of the Enterprise. Revises and updates materials on both a periodic and as-needed basis according to Learning Governance Standards and Guidelines.

  • Designs and implements learning evaluations following learning experience.

  • Based on reporting data, identifies trends, patterns, exceptions, provides synthesis of pertinent materials and creates recommendations as appropriate.

  • Attends Train the Trainer events to enhance industry knowledge.

  • Ensures that learning solutions align with the department and organizational strategies and initiatives.

  • Supports training technology related initiatives to ensure process and requirements are understood and business needs are met.

  • Keeps informed of current developments in the field of Instructional Design.

  • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.

  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Level II (in addition to Level I accountabilities)

  • Creates and implements instructional design processes and standards that are applicable across the Enterprise.

  • Designs and develops training needs assessments and curriculum design.

  • Develops, designs and authors training materials, job aides, and e-learning modules for all areas of the Enterprise.

  • Manages and oversees timeline of Enterprise-wide deliverables to ensure that new training materials are implemented effectively.

  • Explores new technologies and keeps informed of current developments in the field.

  • Actively participates in external professional organizations, workshops and committees to stay current with adult learning techniques.

  • Applies knowledge of the Learning Management System to provide strategic support to L&OD, Culture, and HR Leadership around learning, development, and succession planning initiatives.

  • Manages multiple projects and workstreams.

Level III (in addition to Level II accountabilities)

  • Acts as the subject matter expert and develops and designs training for others.

  • Designs and develops simulations and other practical applications of knowledge and skills.

  • Leads Train the Trainer events.

  • Implements off-the-shelf new learning tools to improve the learning culture across the organization.

  • Leads training technology related initiatives to ensure processes and requirements are understood and business needs are met.

  • Designs and implements learning evaluations to measure shifts in learner behavior.

  • Builds standard processes/rules of engagement for the LMS and implements across the enterprise.

  • Maintains an understanding of business line strategy and operating environment to develop and recommend learning solutions that support organizational needs.

  • Drives alignment among individual, business unit and corporate objectives by delivering meaningful business solutions, based on comprehensive data review and analysis.

  • Leads the planning and execution of cross-functional projects with significant visibility across the organization.

  • Serves as a mentor to other Instructional Designers

Level IV (in addition to Level III accountabilities)

  • Designs learning evaluations that calculate the Return on Investment of the program and utilize predictive modeling for recommendations.

  • Designs programs that specifically address and improve executive coaching, talent succession planning, change management and executive engagement.

  • Directs the work of others and or serves as an advisor and mentor with other Instructional Designers.

  • Frequently leads high level projects with a corporate-wide scope and high impact on business outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

NOTE:

All Levels

  • Bachelor Degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Technical Writing or relevant field plus one (1) or more years of hands-on work experience as an Instructional Designer including development of classroom and online training and assessment materials as well as experience in facilitation of training classes.

  • In lieu of degree, five (5) years of experience as an Instructional Designer including development of classroom and online training and assessment materials as well as experience in facilitation of training classes or a combination of experience and relevant certifications will be considered.

  • Experience with video production/editing software (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience in creating online learning courses with eLearning software (Captivate, Articulate, etc.).

  • Proven ability to implement a sound design methodology to develop programs which will include analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education theories, methods and strategies as well as adult learner training/facilitating experience. Ability to assess needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Strong analytical and research skills.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • A keen sense of attention to detail and strong time management skills.

Level II (in addition to Level I)

  • Four (4) years hands-on work experience as an Instructional Designer including development of classroom and online training and assessment materials as well as experience in facilitation of training classes.

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design and/or Educational Technology preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in video production/editing software (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.).

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in creating online learning courses with eLearning software (Captivate, Articulate, etc.).

  • Exceptional project management skills.

  • Expertise of adult education theories, methods and strategies as well as adult learner training/facilitating experience.

Level III (in addition to Level II)

  • Six (6) years hands-on work experience.

  • Expert in video production/editing software (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.)

  • Expert in creating online learning courses with eLearning software (Captivate, Articulate, etc.)

  • Expertise with design and media development tools.

  • Exceptional project management skills and the ability to manage multiple organization wide projects.

  • Ability to work independently and lead large projects with multiple stakeholders.

Level IV (in addition to Level III)

  • Ten (10) years hands-on experience.

  • Expert in creating and implementing learning evaluations including calculating ROI

  • Experience in executive learning and development

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.

  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Compensation Range(s):

Level I: Grade E1: Minimum $62,400 - Maximum $84,000

Level II: Grade E3: Minimum $62,400 - Maximum $106,929

Level III: Grade E4: Minimum $65,346 - Maximum $117,622

Level IV: Grade E6: Minimum $79,068 - Maximum $142,322

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and/or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.
