About the Job

This position is with the OTR Enterprise Application Services non-credit registration system team and has primary responsibilities in the areas of system maintenance and end user support for our enterprise non-credit registration software application, Modern Campus Lifelong Learning Extended Education Edition. The analyst in this role will be expected to ensure the enterprise environment is fully utilizing available technology to enhance productivity and improve work processes.

This role is a blend of high-touch user support, training of staff, and technical system maintenance. The analyst will provide customer support to staff users and learners, onboard new units in the system, facilitate training sessions, perform some financial reconciliation, and troubleshoot software and integration issues. The analyst will act as the liaison between internal units and our external vendors, overseeing ticket management, system change requests, and testing for vendor maintenance, hotfixes, and new releases.

A successful person in this role is a self-motivated and strategic thinker with the ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing work direction and priorities. They are able to effectively engage with diverse business users across various colleges and departments to understand their unique needs. They have the ability to exercise independent judgment while working effectively with others in a team. A successful member of the team will anticipate needs and identify problems, then provide solutions.

Academic Support Resources supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Work arrangements are determined in coordination with supervisors depending on the nature of the unit and position. The arrangement for this position will be determined upon hire between employee and supervisor. This is a 100%-time, 40 hour/week salaried position.

Essential Job Functions

  • Business/Operations Support (60%)
    • Execute appropriate decision making to support solution configuration decisions that meet the
      enterprise needs.
    • Ensure data and reports meet service expectations and are available for end users.
    • Manage and maintain business process documentation in both technical and non-technical language so that business owners, process owners, and end users can fully understand the business logic and process.
    • Assist with technical upgrades, ongoing maintenance, and the continuous improvement of the non-credit registration system software.
    • Provide use case modeling and proof-of-concept assistance to existing and on-boarding units
    • Provide end user support for staff and learners in accordance with the service level agreement.
    • Train and develop staff across the University.
    • Provide day-to-day management of projects and tasks, updating leadership on work progress.
    • Work directly with the solution vendor to report defects, drive resolution, and implement fixes.
    • Assist in the troubleshooting and rapid resolution of production bugs and issues.
    • Test and evaluate solution releases.
  • Production Analysis/Support (30%)
    • Work with colleges and departments in understanding their business processes and make recommendations to support improvement, efficiencies, best practices, and solution usage.
    • Collaborate with members of the non-credit user community to solve complex problems and analyze desired business needs.
    • Elicit and document business requirements, translating them into functional and technical requirements.
    • Design and document specifications and facilitate implementation of integrations between the enterprise system and other software applications.
    • Ensure appropriate creation and execution of test strategies and document results.
    • Assist in maintaining the dors.umn.edu website.
  • Professional Development (10%)
    • Stay current on solution best practices and technology advancements.
    • Actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.
    • Serve as the ASR representative on committees.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of professional relevant experience or a Master's degree.
  • Excellent customer service and end user support skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with a non-credit registration and student information system (Modern Campus Lifelong Learning preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of requirements definition techniques.
  • Ability to interpret business needs and translate them into actionable requirements.
  • Ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate technology concepts effectively with technically proficient and non-technically proficient individuals.
  • Be self-directed, possess excellent problem-solving skills, enjoy helping others solve problems, and quickly and efficiently switch focus among many concurrent tasks.
  • Development experience with SQL and/or Tableau.

Pay Range: $74,861- $78,700 annually depending on education/qualifications/experience
