Position Overview

We are seeking a Federal Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD) to support the design and implementation of telecommunications and low-voltage systems for federal government projects. This role will be responsible for leading communications system designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables from concept through completion.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead telecommunications and communications system design efforts and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.



  • Develop conceptual and detailed system designs, including design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering analyses.



  • Collaborate with BIM/CAD teams to produce construction and design documentation.



  • Perform quality control reviews and independent technical evaluations of project deliverables.



  • Manage assigned project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work.



  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.




Additional Responsibilities


  • Conduct site visits and field assessments as needed.



  • Prepare assessment reports and technical documentation.



  • Assist in the development of design standards, templates, and best practices.



  • Support business development initiatives, proposals, and project pursuits when required.




Project Environment

This position supports projects for U.S. Government agencies and departments, requiring adherence to federal standards, security requirements, and industry best practices. The role involves working on complex telecommunications infrastructure and technology systems that support critical government operations.


Preferred Qualifications


  • U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of federal project work.



  • Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and BICSI standards, codes, and best practices related to Information and Communications Technology (ICT), telecommunications, and low-voltage systems.



  • Experience designing structured cabling systems with a focus on safety, constructability, and industry compliance.



  • Strong understanding of Inside Plant (ISP) telecommunications infrastructure, including:




    • Telecommunications rooms and spaces



    • Pathways and cable management systems



    • Copper cabling systems



    • Fiber optic cabling systems and connectivity





  • Experience designing Outside Plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic communication networks.



  • Experience with Audio-Visual (AV) system design.



  • Minimum of 4 years of telecommunications system design experience.

  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements, which may include:




    • Criminal background check



    • Drug screening



    • Motor vehicle record review



    • Other applicable compliance requirements

  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)




Preferred


  • Certified Technology Specialist - Design (CTS-D)
