Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Looking for an Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join a growing abdominal organ transplant program within an academic medical center. The candidate should have expertise in kidney and pancreas transplantation, including organ transplantation and recovery, with a focus on clinical excellence, multidisciplinary care, education, and programmatic growth.
As an attending at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, responsibilities will include all aspects of patient care and medical record completion, teaching of students, residents, and fellows via clinical patient rounds, Grand Rounds, and departmental conferences; participation in community education programs and lecture series; submission of abstracts/manuscripts for publication; and other duties as assigned by the Division Chief, Chair, or Dean. Position duties will be to function as an Abdominal Transplant Surgeon within the transplant program.
- Performing kidney and pancreas transplant surgeries, procurements, and related procedures
- Managing all phases of donor and transplant recipient care in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Participating in transplant candidate selection committees and the development of clinical protocols
- Supporting quality improvement, clinical outcomes, and regulatory performance initiatives
- Participating in clinical research, scholarship, and innovation activities
- Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees in office, inpatient, and operative settings
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary transplant teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care
- Supporting strategic growth, regional visibility, and long-term sustainability of the abdominal organ transplant program
- Participating in national and regional transplant societies and professional organizations.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- This position requires an M. D. or equivalent
- Must be board-certified in General Surgery with fellowship training in Abdominal Organ Transplantation, robotic/laparoscopic training/experience is preferred and be eligible for an academic appointment. Expertise in all aspects of Pancreas Transplantation is highly desired.
