These controls - made up of computer modules, sensors, actuators and software - are tasked to monitor and control vehicle operation to meet safety and emissions requirements while delivering the expected vehicle performance. Keeping these objectives in mind, Stellantis is looking for qualified Safety, Aftersales & On-Board diagnostic requirements engineers

The Safety, Aftersales, On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) department is responsible for ensuring that vehicle propulsion systems and their associated controls are safe, compliant with global regulations, diagnosable, and serviceable throughout the full vehicle lifecycle. The department defines and integrates safety, diagnostic, and serviceability requirements to enable robust design, regulatory compliance, and efficient aftersales support across all propulsion system components and vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities May Include:



  • Develop and own Safety, OBD and Aftersales requirements
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and OBD regulations
  • Define diagnostic strategies and review supplier implementations
  • Lead validation planning, issue resolution and requirement traceability
  • Support safety analyses and certification activities


Typical Deliverables:



  • Safety concepts and requirements (TSC)
  • Diagnostic strategies, DTC definitions, and diagnostic matrices
  • Technical policies and diagnostic specifications
  • Safety analyses (HARA, FTA, FMEA, FMEDA)
  • Validation plans and compliance documentation
  • Aftersales and serviceability documentation


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Min 5 years of experience in automotive systems, propulsion or embedded control systems
  • Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262), diagnostics, and OBD regulations (CARB CCR 1968.2, UN156, Euro 7)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced engineering degree
  • Experience in powertrain systems (ICE, hybrid, electrified)
  • Experience with diagnostic development, calibration tools, or validation (HiL)
  • Familiarity with Agile, ASPICE, or AUTOSAR
  • Experience working with suppliers and global regulatory processes
