PROCESS EXCELLENCE AND AUTOMATION MANAGER

100% Remote + 15% Travel

Standardize what matters, automate what slows us down, and scale what works.

Who We Are

As the United States' largest light industrial staffing company and a broad workforce solutions provider, our digital-enabled approach to staffing is rooted in a rich history of delivering high-quality, scalable workforce solutions to the organizations driving the American supply chain. Our colleagues are guided by our purpose of Championing People, Unlocking Potential, and they bring this to life every day as they help put hundreds of thousands of people to work at thousands of companies across the country. The foundation of our culture is built upon a bridge to better, offering our colleagues rewarding and growth-oriented experiences that positively impact the lives of others and businesses in innovative and meaningful ways.

The Process Excellence and Automation Manager is responsible for cross-functionally establishing and maintaining operational standards and processes that drive efficiency and consistency across the organization. This role focuses on developing best practices, learning programs, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance (including the creation of playbooks, guidelines, and resources for operational use). In addition, this individual will lead the identification, design, and implementation of automation solutions (via low-code tools, RPA, and AI enabled workflows) to streamline manual processes and scale digital operational efficiencies across the company's staffing and recruiting operations.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Standards Development: Create, implement, and maintain enterprise operational standards and procedures that align with organizational goals. Regularly review and update standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and evolving best practices. Develop clear SOPs, playbooks, and job aids; maintain an accessible, version-controlled repository for all standard work documentation.
  • Training & Development Enablement: Collaboratively develop training programs and learning resources to educate employees on new operational standards, procedures, and tools. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote understanding, adherence, and effective adoption of best practices and new automation solutions. Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) in operational processes for various departments.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency gains in branch operations, recruiting workflows, and shared services. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean projects, Kaizen events) from concept through implementation. Use data analysis and stakeholder feedback to pinpoint pain points; redesign workflows to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and boost quality of service delivery.
  • Automation & Digital Enablement: Proactively identify manual or repetitive operational tasks that can be automated to improve consistency and speed. For straightforward, low-risk processes, independently design, build, and maintain automated solutions using low-code/no-code tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps) and basic RPA or AI technologies. For more complex or enterprise-level automation needs, partner closely with central product and development teams to jointly design and implement solutions (shared delivery). In all cases, remain accountable for thorough testing, clear documentation, and compliance with governance and security standards, as well as translating operational needs into technical requirements and driving user adoption and continuous improvement of automated work.
  • Performance Monitoring & Tools: Establish and maintain key performance indicator (KPI) tracking tools and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of operational standards and improvements. Collaborate on development of reporting solutions (potentially leveraging Power BI or other analytics tools) that provide visibility into process adherence, productivity, quality, and other critical metrics. Analyze performance data regularly to identify trends and additional areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration & Change Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams (branch leaders, IT/digital teams, operations, HR, etc.) to ensure alignment on operational practices and adoption of new processes and tools. Serve as a resource and coach for departments in implementing and sustaining operational improvements and automations. Lead change management efforts for operations initiatives, anticipating and mitigating resistance by clearly communicating benefits, providing hands-on support, and celebrating wins to build momentum. Participate in field pilots and testing for new operating model concepts or technology introductions, gathering feedback and iterating solutions.
  • Documentation & Governance: Ensure proper documentation of all operational standards, procedures, and new automated workflows. Maintain an accessible repository (knowledge base) of resources and automation playbooks for staff reference. Establish governance processes (in partnership with IT or a Center of Excellence, if applicable) for automation lifecycle management, including version control, user access, and maintenance schedules. Regularly review and audit both manual processes and automated workflows to ensure they remain accurate, effective, and up-to-date with current practices.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations management, process improvement, or business process development roles within a service or staffing environment, including experience leading cross-functional projects. Demonstrated success in creating or improving standard operating procedures and driving efficiency.
  • Strong technical aptitude and digital skillset. Hands-on experience with process automation, workflow tools, or data systems strongly preferred. Familiarity with low-code platforms (e.g. Microsoft Power Apps/Power Automate), RPA tools, or AI-driven solutions in an operational context is highly desirable. Able to translate business process requirements into technical solutions (you don't need to be a software engineer, but you can build prototypes or coordinate with technical teams effectively).
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, BI dashboards) to assess process performance and identify improvement opportunities. Experience creating metrics, dashboards, or using data visualization is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills. Able to work across departments to gather requirements, lead trainings, and influence adoption of new standards or tools. Experience in change management or training related to process changes or new technology rollout is beneficial.
  • Proven continuous improvement mindset (certifications like Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar are a plus). Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously to completion.
  • Passion for innovation and problem-solving - seeks out emerging tools (e.g., AI copilots, chatbots) and creative approaches to solve operational challenges and make work easier for teams. Self-driven to stay current on technology trends that can benefit operational efficiency. Core Competencies (Skills & Knowledge)
  • Process Development & Standardization - skill in creating clear, effective processes and documentation for large teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation - ability to continually optimize workflows, champion new ideas, and drive change for better results.
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer - aptitude for educating others and ensuring new practices or tools are understood and utilized effectively.
  • Data Analysis & Insight - proficiency in interpreting operational data and metrics to guide decisions and measure success.
  • Technical & Automation Proficiency - fluency with modern workplace technology; capable of building or guiding tech-enabled solutions (low-code apps, automated workflows, etc.) to enhance operations.
  • Collaboration & Communication - excels in cross-functional teamwork; can clearly convey complex ideas, listen to stakeholder needs, and build consensus.
