Overview
This position supports the business development and marketing activities of the firm's Financial Restructuring Group practice group. The BD Manager will work closely with the Practice Group Leaders (PGL's) to execute the group's business development and marketing goals. The BD Manager will report to the Associate Director of Marketing and Business Development and manage direct report(s) as assigned.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary business development point of contact for the Financial Restructuring Group's attorneys and PGLs.
- Maintain and distribute practice group watchlists and engagement trackers to keep partners informed of active and prospective restructuring matters, client interactions, and outreach status.
- Create, edit, and publish marketing and BD materials including RFP responses, customized pitches, presentations, practice descriptions, attorney biographies, client alerts, and award and directory submissions.
- Maintain and oversee updates to deal lists and the experience database.
- Conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry trends to inform BD strategy, plans, presentations, and proposals.
- Leverage financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Octus, Debtwire) to identify distressed credit opportunities and analyze lender holder positions in support of partner-led client outreach and engagement efforts.
- Vet potential engagement targets by conducting conflict checks, monitoring for existing law firm involvement, and reviewing leveraged finance news sources to assess viability before partner outreach.
- Prepare company background research and talking points on borrowers, including capital structure summaries, sponsor details, and economic factors, to prepare partners for meetings with lender clients.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and facilitate collaboration across practice groups and offices to advance firm and practice goals.
- Liaise with the firm's communications team and PGLs on media relations and communications activities relevant to the practice area.
- Monitor leveraged finance and restructuring industry publications and news sources to stay current on market trends and identify opportunities to promote the practice group.
- In coordination with Events Manager, manage practice-related seminars and client-facing events. Evaluate and advise on new opportunities for the practice area as relevant.
- In coordination with the communications team, evaluate awards submission opportunities for relevant practices and ensure that practice groups lawyers are provided visibility on various media and social channels.
- In coordination with the Associate Director of Marketing and Business Development and PGLs, evaluate sponsorship and speaking opportunities for practice group lawyers and manage participation to maximize return on investment.
- Supervise an assigned Business Development Specialist.
- Other responsibilities as they are assigned from time to time.
Compensation: -The anticipated base salary range offered for this role will be between $140,000 -160,000. and represents the firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation. Actual base compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, performance, qualifications, degrees, and location, well as the needs of the firm.

- Excellent project-management skills are a must.
- Professional experience with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience.
