The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily shipping operations, ensuring orders are processed accurately and efficiently. This role involves coordinating shipments, supervising shipping team members, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and leadership experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee the shipping department to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor shipping team members, providing guidance and support.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to optimize stock management.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and company policies.
  • Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve shipping-related issues.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software to track shipments and maintain records.
  • Conduct quality control checks to verify order accuracy and prevent shipping errors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance shipping efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
  • Proficiency in shipping software and warehouse management systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to manage a team.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy packages as needed up to 75lbs.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and best practices.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, with leadership experience.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
