Primary Purpose

The Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) is a senior executive that plays a critical role in shaping the responsible use of data and technology across the organization. The role leads our global approach to privacy, data protection, ethical data use, and privacy risk governance, ensuring we respect individual rights while enabling Company innovation and growth.

The CPO provides strategic oversight to ensure personal data and AIdriven technologies are governed and used lawfully, transparently, and fairly across all regions. By embedding strong privacy risk governance and responsible AI principles into our culture, products, and decisionmaking, the CPO helps build trust with customers, employees, and partners, while protecting the organization from legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.

ThisHybridrole requires in-person work at our Newton, MA headquarters.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Privacy Strategy & Governance

    • Define and execute a global privacy strategy aligned with corporate, digital, and AI objectives.

    • Establish and lead enterprise-wide privacy governance frameworks, policies, and standards.

    • Co-Chair Global Privacy & Information Security Governance Committee.

  • Executive Leadership & Board Engagement

    • Provide privacy and risk reporting to Company executive leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board.

    • Influence executive decision-making across strategy, technology, product, and operations.

    • Serve as the organization's accountable executive for privacy governance.

  • Regulatory & Legal Compliance

    • Oversee global compliance with all relevant data protection laws and emerging global regulations.

    • Lead regulatory engagement, investigations, and compliance responses.

    • Ensure operational readiness for audits, DPIAs, DSARs, and cross-border transfers.

  • Governance & Emerging Technology Oversight

    • Set privacy and data ethics principles for AI, advanced analytics, and machine learning.

    • Approve privacy and AI risk assessments for high-risk technologies.

    • Partner with Executive Team members or equivalents in all regions to guide responsible innovation.

  • Enterprise Risk Management & Incident Response

    • Lead global privacy risk management strategy and integrate with ERM.

    • Oversee privacy incident and breach management, including notifications and remediation.

  • Trust, Reputation & Stakeholder Management

    • Develop and drive the organization's trust and transparency strategy.

    • Act as executive spokesperson for privacy with regulators, customers, and public stakeholders.

  • Global Operations & Team Leadership

    • Build and lead a high-performing global privacy organization.

    • Ensure privacy-by-design adoption across all business units and regions.

    • Oversee regional privacy leads and operational alignment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 15 years of experience in deep leadership experience in fields of global privacy, data protection, and compliance.

  • Demonstrative success leading global teams and complex projects; experience in influencing C-suite and Board level management.

  • Strong understanding of AI governance, cybersecurity, and data management

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's Degree

Theannual salaryfor this position is between$225,000 - 285,000annually. The pay range listed here is what Bright Horizons in good faithanticipatesoffering for this job opening. Actual compensation offers within this range will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education and training, certifications, geography, and other relevant business ororganizational factors.

This position is also eligible forbonus and RSUs.
