You will be responsible for working with the broader Chicago recruiting team to drive and manage all aspects of recruiting for full-time and summer roles for the Chicago office, with a focus on hiring distinctive associate talent to McKinsey & Company from MBA and APD sources.
You will own hiring efforts at some Advanced Professional Degree (APD) sources in the Midwest. You will collaborate with consultants and leaders affiliated with the sources to lead the recruiting strategy and execution to deliver on our overall recruiting priorities.
Office recruiting responsibilities: You will collaborate with partners and consultants to help develop and drive recruiting strategy for the location; build and maintain peer-based relationships with leaders; partner with consultants, source recruiters, and other members of the recruiting community to plan and execute all aspects of core recruiting efforts, including attraction, assessment, cultivation and onboarding. You will provide end-to-end management of the candidate through their progression in the recruiting process, including interview scheduling, responding to general questions, generating offer letters, planning, designing and executing tailored cultivation and onboarding strategies. You will build strong relationships with candidates to understand decision making criteria and provide counsel. You will manage final-round interview days, including planning interview day schedule, working with partners, associate partners, and EAs to manage participation efforts, facilitate/lead decision meetings. You will lead ongoing management of candidate pipeline and data, using tools and systems while keeping key stakeholders informed. You will develop location specific messaging and value proposition to attract top talent to the location. You will understand the competitive landscape and what makes it unique and distinctive. You will plan and execute attraction and cultivation events (e.g., location presentations, small group events, interview days, dinners, office visits). You will work with the North America recruiting team to continue to innovate our recruiting practices. You will conduct year-end analysis on recruiting results and develop recommendations for improvements; ensure accurate and timely candidate data updates within appropriate recruiting tools. You will take on additional responsibilities and special projects throughout the year and/or as they arise.
Source recruiting responsibilities: You will manage all aspects of firm recruiting efforts, working with consultants to develop and execute recruiting strategy for top talent. You will plan and execute campus events (e.g., large presentations, small group events, interview workshops) while managing overall source recruiting budget, staffing consultants and attending events. You will serve as primary contact and counselor for candidates throughout the identification, attraction and early assessment stages, being highly responsive to their needs and inquiries. You will lead candidate screening efforts and selection discussions for sources. You will develop annual analysis of results against historical and competitive benchmarks and identify strategies to improve recruiting initiatives. You will assist with candidate cultivation to include planning and executing events; assigning specific consultants to call offerees to address their issues and concerns, developing creative and personalized strategies. You will manage a high volume of online applications; process and track applications; monitor candidate assessment results and update candidate management database. You will provide input into the semi-annual review process for consultants who have contributed to the source recruiting strategy and execution. You will work with broader recruiting team to continue to innovate McKinsey's recruiting strategy.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • University degree required
  • 2+ years of recruiting experience, with knowledge of professional services-based recruiting a strong plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; growth mindset and willingness to dive in where priorities require leadership
  • Strong strategic thinker - ability to see and manage to "the big picture" while driving impact on specific initiatives
  • Strong analytical/numerical ability, including high degree of comfort with Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build great relationships with candidates, consultants at all levels, and recruiting colleagues; a positive open attitude and a sense of fun
  • Proactive problem solver capable of identifying issues and generating solutions; desire and energy to continuously improve recruiting processes
  • Outstanding organizational skills; Ability to coordinate multiple streams of work independently; close attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgment and maturity; track record as self-starter; mindful of external reputation; discreet, respectful and caring with confidential information
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and navigate with ambiguity. Flexibility to deal with last-minute changes; comfortable working with minimal direction; Ability to look beyond own responsibilities to help team members with more urgent deadlines as needed
  • Ability to have flexible schedule and work overtime as needed and travel to campus as needed
