Job Description The Director, CM Controls for Operations leads and manages a strategic CM Operations Risk & Controls Governance (RC&G) function within Capital Markets. This role is responsible for ensuring that operational risks are effectively monitored and reported across business functions to ensure appropriate oversight against risks and alignment with enterprise policies. You will work with CM leaders to drive alignment and standardization across processes, procedures, controls, management reporting, toolsets, and governance. What will you do?Drive the implementation of a robust, efficient, and standardized control framework-strategically and operationally-to ensure risks are proactively identified, measured, monitored, communicated, and escalated. The framework should include but is not limited to the following:
Establish robust lineage and heatmapping across Policies, Processes, Risks, Controls, and Issues to connect enterprise frameworks holistically. Facilitate governance forums and production of related reporting for regional risk forums, senior management, and regulatory bodies. Lead the standardization and streamlining of RBC's global RC&G control frameworks, leveraging AI tools to identify automation and process efficiency opportunities across the team and its downstream functions. Drive reviews of functional processes to identify key risks, control improvements, and synergy opportunities. Partner on regulatory, compliance, and audit requests; reviews of dispensations; and other operations-wide engagements. Facilitate communication with and responses to requests by other CM and enterprise oversight groups. Lead, coordinate, facilitate, and/or participate in the execution of projects related to Operational Risk & Controls, providing subject matter expertise where needed. Liaise with business or functional partners as needed for any project or business-as-usual matter related to Operational Risk. Ensure CM's compliance with RBC and CM policies and procedures. Lead with managerial best practices by demonstrating global leadership by articulating strategy, developing people across the region, contributing to and participating in learning and development initiatives, and participating in citizenship and diversity initiatives. Establish and maintain an environment that empowers staff to be productive and resourceful, encourages maximum performance, and manages low performance appropriately. Frequently review talent pool, ensuring that potential is managed with succession planning in mind and that staff take an active role in managing their objectives and goals. Ensure that employees understand RBC vision and support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals. Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance. The expected salary range for this particular position is $160,000-$260,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions, and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program, which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
