Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom.
This position is an in-person, student-facing role responsible for managing and overseeing the smooth operation of the Career Development Office, including the front desk. The Department Operations Lead provides administrative support to the Associate Dean for Career Development and to various
CDO initiatives. Regular responsibilities include daily in-person (with some remote flexibility for school breaks) front desk/reception coverage, coordinating schedules and maintaining office calendars, prioritizing and arranging meetings and appointments, and overseeing the purchase of office supplies. This role also monitors and assists with budget preparation and record keeping, organizes and submits P-card receipts, and anticipates and prepares background materials as needed.
This position provides critical administrative and logistical support for the Career Development Office at the Law School. Duties include:
- Provides administrative support by assisting in the execution of CDO programming, creating marketing materials, and assisting with handouts and materials for students. Coordinates staff support for all CDO programming.
- Processes reimbursements, travel requests, and payment requests for job-related expenses and for companies that have rendered goods or services to the office. Submits monthly P-Card reports for the Associate Dean, and processes professional memberships for staff members.
- This position manages all of the operations of the office, including front desk and phone coverage, support for the scheduling of student and staff appointments, and the maintenance and updating of online and print CDO resources for students.
- Orders and restocks office supplies.
- Assists in all general office-related tasks such as filing, word-processing, email traffic, picking up and distributing physical mail, etc.
- Assists with CDO commencement responsibilities: organizing the CDO team to line up graduates for the procession and in collaboration with the Records Office and the Information Technology Office, creating graduation cards which are used to ensure the accurate distribution of diplomas.
- Manages the resource library for the CDO, including annual and monthly subscriptions.
- Helps process CPT applications for international JD and students.
- Coordinates onboarding for new staff members, including liaising with the law school onboarding task force.
- Responsible for creating the weekly CDO staff meeting agenda and producing minutes following each meeting.
- Responsible for coordinating website content updates; serves as lead for website content review and updates, including periodic checks and updates to links, resources, and other content.
- Supports the CDO Communications team with social media content.
- Maintains and updates CORE Resource Library, including event recordings.
- Updates and maintains subscriptions to student resources.
- Oversees content on REACH, the digital display screens for Career Center information.
- Plans and coordinates catering for CDO events.
- Liaises with central university operations to coordinate CDO events and programs.
- Structures and maintains CDO's internal shared drive and calendar.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

- Excellent administrative office experience to include attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize tasks, in addition to strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Past experience working with students and program related activities is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google tools is expected, as well as familiarity with other contemporary office applications.
- Event planning experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using social media as a communication tool.
