The position primarily supports the major cleaning work window, generally associated with evening floor care operations (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), with flexibility for day support, periodic project work, and occasional weekend restorative cleaning. The Floor Technician is responsible for achieving floor care schedules and quality standards for resilient floors, carpeted areas, entry matting, and related surfaces; safely operating and maintaining specialized floor equipment; and obtaining and maintaining all required site access credentials and an active TS/SCI security clearance. The role operates within ServiceSource's standardized FY27 Custodial Operating Plan, including alignment to the QC SOP, Training SOP, hands-on competency validation model, and applicable ISSA/CMI, BSCAI, and CIMS-GB-informed operational practices.

  • Prepare, stage, and safely execute floor care activities in occupied facilities to minimize disruption to foot traffic, mission operations, and access routes.
  • Operate burnishers, auto scrubbers, polishers, extractors, wet vacuums, and other specialized floor care machinery in accordance with manufacturer guidance, training, and contract requirements.
  • Inspect finished work for appearance, cleanliness, and safety; correct deficiencies as needed; and communicate completion status to supervisory staff.

  • Support cross-functional custodial duties when operationally required, including project cleaning and surge response tasks.
  • Complete task training using visual aids, equipment guides, and chemical charts, and successfully demonstrate role-critical tasks through supervisory observation and checklist sign-off. Role-critical tasks require hands-on training, supervisory observation, and checklist sign-off; refresher training is assigned continuously based on observed gaps, repeat deficiencies, new equipment/chemicals, or audit findings.
  • Perform work in accordance with the ServiceSource QC SOP and related cleaning observation standards, and participate in refresher training when triggered by performance gaps, repeat deficiencies, new equipment/chemicals, or audit findings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to work schedules and building-specific floor care plans to ensure contract frequencies and project windows are met.
  • Use wet-floor signs, barriers, and proper safety controls before, during, and after work to protect occupants and prevent incidents.

  • Report completed work, floor conditions, equipment issues, access constraints, and any customer-impacting concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in the standardized onboarding process, including review of corporate, operational, and site-specific custodial policies, procedures, and SOPs through an Intake Binder and position-specific onboarding schedule.
  • Support zero-fail adoption expectations for required training, QC processes, safety procedures, and other controlled operational documents applicable to the position.
  • Comply with corporate, operational, and site-specific custodial policies, procedures, and SOPs, including BBP, CleanCheck/CompuClean systems and standards, the QC Plan, QC SOP training, and applicable safety procedures.
