Overview

Myriad Genetics is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the role of Medical Science Liaison I(MSL) within the Mental Health (MH) Medical Affairs channel.

The MSL position is a field-basedscientific and clinical expert role that is essential for: communicating Myriad's scientific advancements to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs); serving as a trusted advisor and conduit of information; and collaborating cross-functionally.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of clinical and scientific expertise, strong business acumen and market awareness, a passion for learning and educating at a high level, robust ability to communicate to diverse audiences, and flexibility and willingness to adapt to evolving business and department needs.

This MSL position requires regular travel (~ 60%) including 2-3 days of travel per week within the assigned territory and occasional weekend travel for conferences or corporate meetings that may be outside of the assigned territory.

Territory:Eastern United States. Preferred location is close proximity to an airport hub such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati.

Responsibilities

Maintains MSL Expertise

  • Regularly demonstrates expert clinical knowledge of Myriad's portfolio of products and the science behind them.

  • Stays current on research and treatment approaches within therapeutic areas of focus by reviewing published literature related to Myriad's portfolio of products.

  • Attends scientific conferences to meet business objectives and maintain knowledge of the current state of healthcare within therapeutic areas of focus.

  • Continually educates oneself on market issues, trends, competitive landscape, and product knowledge as it pertains to specific business responsibilities.

  • Establish, build, maintain, and foster relationships with new and existing key opinion leaders (KOLs), including conducting planned and impromptu meetings/discussions/abstracts/symposia/presentations at conferences.

  • Collaborates within the Myriad Medical Affairs community through actively participating in meetings and sharing best practices, learnings, and wins.

  • Proactively manages professional growth and development.

Serves as a Trusted Clinical and Scientific Resource for the Healthcare Community

  • Provides ongoing, up-to-date omnichannel educational presentations to increase awareness of and access to genetic/genomic/pan-omic testing for appropriate patients.

  • Answers medical/scientific questions and address other clinically related requests for medical information.

  • Assists in understanding and utilizing consistent processes for assessing patients' candidacy for genetic/genomic/pan-omic testing, explains test results, and discusses guidelines relevant for treatment and medical management.

  • Supports internal and external research projects through initiatives such as the Myriad Comprehensive Research Registry, Myriad R&D Clinical Development, investigator-initiated studies/trials, implementation surveys, or EMR integration and data sharing agreements.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) related to research, implementation, education, guidelines, and policy development.

Contributes to Sales Training and Enablement

  • Identifies and prioritizes opportunities for customer engagement and education by collaborating with sales, marketing, and medical leadership.

  • Attends sales meetings and partners with sales manager(s) and marketing to present information that facilitates the clinical implementation of Myriad testing, as needed.

  • Elevates sales team skillset by delivering education on current clinical practice trends, guideline advancements, and appropriate messaging related to Myriad's products.

  • Supports the selection, onboarding, training, and monitoring of Speakers and other Thought Leaders/Advisors/Consultants/KOLs in alignment with business objectives.

  • Continually evaluates and adapts engagement tactics and sales partnerships to achieve customer and company goals.

  • Understands, supports, and leads the implementation of new business initiatives.

  • Completes administrative tasks such as internal database logging related to customer interactions in a timely manner.

Successful MSLs will:

  • Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge of Myriad's portfolio of products within this MSL role's clinical channel(s).

  • Maintain clinical expertise by constantly reading the current research literature, attending conferences, participating in journal clubs and team discussions, and seeking out other learning opportunities.

  • Educate to empower healthcare providers on the adoption genetic testing, consistent with currentstandardof care and guidelines.

  • Remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment, identify areas of need and propose solutions, communicate and collaborate successfully diverse groups, and work with an efficiency mindset.

  • Deliver relevant scientific education and support to internal and external partners.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers and KOLs in a variety of roles within key accounts in alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Effectively strategize and prioritize, managing time and needs in a specific geography, based on current corporate and product channel objectives.

  • Serve as an active member of the Medical Affairs team, sharing best practices to support and elevate other team members.

Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical or doctorate level degree required (e.g., MD/DO, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA, GC).

  • Clinical experience in behavioral health is strongly preferred.

  • Understanding ofgenetics and genetic testing service delivery models preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability.

  • Enthusiasm for managing travel 2-3 days per week for field responsibilities and occasional weekends for conferences and other internal meetings.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs.

Work Activities

  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (> 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day)

  • Computer and keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday)

  • Driving a personal vehicle and/or rental car and flying across the U.S.

  • Entering healthcare facilities and talking to clinicians, staff, and leaders.

  • Participating in and leading virtual and in-person meetings.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements -light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements-stationarypositioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing, or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
