VISITING INSTRUCTOR

9-MONTH ACADEMIC APPOINTMENT

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK

THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

(Multiple Positions: 50%-100%)

Anticipated Start Date - August 19, 2026

The University of Iowa School of Social Work invites applications for multiple Visiting Instructor positions to teach undergraduate and/or graduate level social work courses in person in Iowa City or Des Moines and online.

A Visiting Instructor position can be full-time (4 courses per semester), time (3 courses per semester), or half-time (2 courses per semester). The initial appointment is for one year (2026-27). The full-time equivalent salary is $70,000 plus benefits.

Education Requirement:


  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.


Required Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated record of at least 3 years, full-time, post-MSW practice.
  • Demonstrated evidence of classroom or synchronous online teaching in social work at the BA or MSW level.
  • Willingness to teach in-person and/or online based on departmental needs
  • Must live in the state of Iowa
