The Sheet Metal Crew Chief is responsible for overseeing and coordinating aircraft structural repair and modification activities within the MRO environment. This leadership role manages sheet metal technicians, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintains compliance with FAA, OEM, customer, and company quality standards while meeting aircraft delivery schedules. Not only will he/she manage the team, but will help fabricate sheet metal parts by interpreting blueprints, calculating angles, diameters, and bend allowances. Work independently and lead projects.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and supervise sheet metal and structural repair teams on corporate and commercial aircraft
  • Coordinate daily workflow, manpower, and job assignments to support production schedules and aircraft outdates
  • Perform and oversee structural repairs, modifications, installations, and fabrication activities on aircraft components and assemblies
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, structural repair manuals (SRMs), service bulletins, and FAA-approved technical data
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and StandardAero quality procedures
  • Troubleshoot complex structural discrepancies and develop effective repair solutions
  • Work closely with Production Managers, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Customer Project Managers to support aircraft maintenance events
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and ensure accurate documentation of completed repairs and inspections
  • Mentor, train, and develop sheet metal technicians while promoting teamwork and accountability
  • Support Lean, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives
  • Assist with performance management, technical coaching, and employee development activities
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a "sign-off") in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Accomplishes Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required.
  • Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams when required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting, and continuously improving company policies and procedures
  • Observes all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • May perform other duties as required by the department.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years aircraft sheet metal experience.
  • Familiar with avionics and antenna installs.
  • Proven mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Proven experience using a variety of hand and power tools, including precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, protractors, etc.).
  • Prior experience operating sheet metal machinery to fabricate units with complex contours and multiple angles.
  • Must know how to calculate, bend and perform roll allowances.
  • Ability to work through disciplinary issues and problem resolution.
  • Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.

Salary: $47.22 - 59.02

This position is eligible for a bonus up to $20,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, StandardAero considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, skills, and current market conditions.
