Job Description

University Health Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Behavioral Health Program Manager to lead our team in providing exceptional care to adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). Located in the heart of Downtown Kansas City, MO, Ellington Place is a 16-bed, unlocked IRTS (Intensive Residential Treatment Services) facility that serves intensive mental health clients. Our goal is to stabilize symptoms, build life skills, and help clients transition back into the community with confidence.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

At Ellington Place, you'll have the unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals as they work toward mental health wellness and independence. You'll be leading a team of passionate Mental Health Techs (MHTs) at our Downtown Kansas City campus, providing clinical leadership, staff mentorship, and programmatic expertise to help clients thrive. We foster a supportive, team-oriented residential environment where your input is valued, professional growth is encouraged, and work-life balance is a priority. Providing innovative clinical care is important. You'll have the autonomy to lead your facility while always having the support of your team and director to help navigate operational challenges in the metro area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Supervision: Lead, schedule, and support a team of Mental Health Techs working across day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

  • Evidence-Based Practice: Implement Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), a transformative, evidence-based clinical practice that we'll provide you with specialized training for.

  • Clinical Case Management: Oversee intensive clinical needs, crisis stabilization, and individualized treatment planning for residential clients.

  • Milieu Management: Foster a compassionate, inclusive, and therapeutic atmosphere that promotes client well-being and growth, while ensuring that all staff feel valued and empowered in their roles.

  • On-Call Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other behavioral health residential managers and rotate on-call duties to ensure consistent crisis management support for our team.

Perks of the Position:

  • Stable Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift schedule with occasional flexibility to support your clinical team on varying shifts.

  • Professional Development: Comprehensive CT-R training, giving you cutting-edge clinical tools to support clients in their psychiatric recovery journey.

  • Leadership Support: The Director of Residential Housing is deeply committed to making sure you have a healthy work-life balance. They are known for being highly attentive to the needs of their management team and will go the extra mile to ensure that your workload is manageable and that you have the time you need for yourself outside of work.

  • Total Rewards: Competitive compensation, health insurance, and a robust employee benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or any other related human services field approved by the State of Missouri.

  • Credential: Must be a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP) in Missouri (i.e., RN, Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor / LPC, OT, etc.).

  • Experience: Two years of human services experience; at least one of which was working directly with the behavioral health or psychiatric population.

  • Licensure: Must be licensed or licensable in the State of Missouri. Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a willingness to work with multicultural staff and clientele in the Kansas City area.

  • Social Work Standard: Staff with a master's degree in social work are required to have a minimum licensure of MO LMSW. (If LMSW hasn't been obtained, still apply as there may be a pathway forward.)

  • Compliance: Staff must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.

  • Onboarding: Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management, or Clinical Educators in the established timeline for continued employment.
