Are you passionate about mental health care and looking for evening work? Join University Health Behavioral Health Ellington Place as a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our evening shift team! Support adults with mental illness while enjoying a consistent weekday schedule: Monday-Friday, 3 PM-11:30 PM.

What You'll Do:

As a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our residential care team, you will provide essential care and support to residents, helping them thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engage and Connect: Lead fun, meaningful activities that promote confidence, joy, and emotional well-being for residents.

  • Teach Life Skills: Guide residents in developing practical skills like cooking, cleaning, symptom management, and problem-solving.

  • Provide Support: Assist with outings, medication administration (training provided), and maintaining a welcoming, recovery-focused environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals who meet the following minimum qualifications and can contribute to a supportive environment for our residents:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).

  • Heartsavers CPR Certification: Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.

  • Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) Licensure: Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).

  • Driver's License: Obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver's license. Must be comfortable and competent operating a 15-passenger van within 3 months of employment and obey all traffic laws while on duty.

  • Family Care Registry Clearance: Successfully clear the Family Care Registry background check.

  • Training: Complete all required training as outlined during orientation and by leadership within established timelines for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lived Experience: Personal lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use disorders is valued in our setting.

  • Patient Care Experience: Preference for candidates with documented experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. home health or residential experience).

  • Mental Health Experience: Prior experience in a mental health care setting is highly valued.
