Job Summary

Our Arts Community Outreach Specialist serves as a communications specialist for Arts and Culture, utilizing knowledge of policies and procedures to advise management on best practices related to communication and outreach in the arts. This position will help plan and implement a broad range of outreach strategies to educate the arts community and the public about the strategies outline in Loudoun County's Comprehensive Arts Plan. (Loudoun.gov/arts) The position will represent PRCS Arts and Culture at community events, arts fairs, meetings, and arts education opportunities, sharing vital information and assisting the arts community.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s): * PRCS, 742 Miller Drive, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Develop an outreach plan to foster engagement and collaboration across different artistic disciplines and different geographic locations in Loudoun County * Research and analyze complex information to inform outreach and communications plans, strategies and content. * Coordinate arts events/activities and special projects as assigned, independently or as a member of a team. * Develop and maintain a community arts calendar * Collaborate with community stakeholders to bring more attention to local arts organizations and programming through community and media storytelling. * Conduct direct outreach to community members and partner organizations. * Develop and deliver presentations about PRCS Arts and Culture * Assist customers with navigating arts and culture resources such as grants, calls for artists, and other programming or engagement efforts * Support the administration of community arts grants as needed * Works with the arts and culture team on procurement, inventory, and distribution of needed arts supplies * Stays informed about national, regional, and local arts agencies, programs, grants, networks, and relevant information the support outreach and communication across the Loudoun County arts sector. * Coordinate with PRCS Marketing and Communication Team, across PRCS and other County departments to support outreach and communication needs for different initiatives. * May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment. *The position will require working during evenings, weekends, and holidays based on programming requirements. *

Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Arts, Arts Education, Communications, Journalism, Media Arts, Parks and Recreation, Theater Public Administration, or related field; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in the arts. * Experience with communication and outreach. * Experience using social media and other communication tools. * Experience with event management. * Experience with public programming. * One plus years of local government or nonprofit art-specific experience.
