*Description*
The Technical Writer III is an experienced technical documentation professional who works independently with minimal supervision. This person owns significant project workstreams, contributes strategically to content quality and structure, and helps improve documentation through proactive analysis and modernization. This role focuses on creating clear, customer-focused technical content that simplifies complex topics and aligns with customer goals. The Technical Writer 3 will apply content architecture best practices, use AI tools to support drafting and content gap analysis, and help build modular, reusable documentation designed for both human readers and AI consumption. The role also includes project leadership responsibilities, including managing multiple concurrent workstreams, tracking progress against sprint goals, identifying risks, reporting status, and supporting process or tooling changes. The Technical Writer 3 may also mentor junior writers and collaborate closely with global teams, subject matter experts, product teams, and senior documentation staff. Note: This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information and must follow policies and applicable privacy laws. Key Responsibilities Content Creation Create technical content ecosystems that bridge the gap between technical complexity and customer goals. Take a portfolio-level view of documentation, ensuring content is useful, accurate, and aligned with user needs. Use AI tools to support drafting while validating output with product knowledge and technical expertise. Content Strategy & Architecture Apply content standards and information architecture principles to create modular, reusable content. Structure documentation to support both customer usability and AI-driven content consumption. Evaluate existing documentation for quality, clarity, consistency, and usability. Identify opportunities to curate, improve, consolidate, or retire outdated content. AI Application Lead AI-assisted content gap analysis initiatives. Use AI-generated insights to identify missing, outdated, redundant, or low-value documentation. Support content modernization through AI-assisted drafting, review, and analysis. Validate AI-generated content using product and domain expertise. Project & Team Leadership Manage multiple concurrent documentation workstreams with minimal supervision. Develop and execute tactical plans to meet project objectives, scope, and sprint goals. Maintain appropriate updates in work tracking systems. Prepare and present project status updates to stakeholders. Identify risks clearly and provide recommendations to mitigate them. Mentorship & Change Leadership Advise and support junior technical writers as needed. Support team members during process, tooling, or organizational changes. Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and deadlines. Proactive mindset toward content improvement and documentation modernization.
