What to Expect The Firmware System Validation team is looking to bring on an Engineering Technician to build, maintain, and operate hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test infrastructure for Tesla vehicles. You will work alongside validation engineers, firmware developers, and test automation teams to ensure test vehicles and bench setups are properly instrumented & operational for continuous firmware validation. This role focuses on test automation hardware integration and vehicle instrumentation. What You'll Do Build & maintain CAN bus breakout harnesses, fault injection systems, relay boxes, and test instrumentation for vehicle and bench setups Support construction of high-voltage hardware-in-loop system test bucks for power conversion, thermals and pneumatics Wire and configure power supplies, voltage/current sensing equipment, and automation rack hardware Diagnose, retrofit and repair engineering vehicle components including LV batteries, seats, controllers and latches Document harness builds, wiring modifications, and track work progress in Jira What You'll Bring 2+ years of experience in automotive electrical systems, test equipment integration, or related field Strong hands-on skills with wiring, soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication Proficiency reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Experience with CAN bus systems and automotive communication protocols Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical test equipment Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical issues Valid driver's license required ASE certifications (A6, xEV, and G1), an Associate's Degree, or technical certification in Electronics or Automotive Technology is a plus Experience with vehicle instrumentation & data acquisition systems, CAN bus analyzer (CANape, PCAN, Vector), test automation hardware (relays, programmable power supplies), Solidworks or similar 3D modeling systems, and high-voltage safety procedures is a plus Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
