A Breaker Shop Technician supports a NETA-accredited electrical testing operation by repairing, refurbishing, and testing low-, medium-, and high-voltage circuit breakers and related power distribution equipment. This role ensures every breaker leaving the shop meets ANSI/NETA ATS/MTS standards, performs reliably, and is safe for field deployment. The technician handles the full lifecycle of breaker service work: disassembly, inspection, mechanical repair, electrical testing, reassembly, and final quality verification. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, comfort with electrical test equipment, and a commitment to precision and safety.

Core Responsibilities


  • Perform mechanical and electrical refurbishment of LV/MV/HV circuit breakers, including cleaning, part replacement, lubrication, and mechanism adjustments.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing-contact resistance, insulation resistance, timing, Hi-Pot, and primary/secondary injection-and evaluate results against manufacturer tolerances and NETA standards.
  • Document all work clearly and accurately for internal QA and customer reporting.
  • Maintain a safe, organized shop environment and follow NFPA 70E and company safety procedures.
  • Support field teams by preparing breakers and related equipment for deployment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hands-on mechanical experience
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as DLROs, Meggers, Dobles, and primary injection sets is valuable.
  • Experience in a NETA environment or pursuit of NETA Level 1 or 2 certification is a strong plus
