About this Role: Accountant - Indirect Tax We are looking for a talented Accountant who has a passion for quality construction. This position ensures payroll and indirect business tax compliance for multiple companies working nationwide, while maintaining general accounting controls and supporting financial reporting requirements. What You'll Do - Prepare and file multi-state payroll, sales and use, gross receipts, excise and personal property tax returns, payments, necessary supporting documentation, and reports. - Coordinate remittance of payroll tax files to third-party provider and resolves discrepancies. - Manage and maintain the company's tax database. - Ensure compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities. - Gather supporting documents for state and local audits and respond to notices and correspondence from state and local taxing authorities. - Assist with internal year-end tax reconciliation process and has oversight of the distribution of accurate annual statements of earnings. - Assist with income tax related reporting effort for Parent company. - Research and monitor the taxability of purchases and project-related expenditures; communicate findings to project accounting and procurement teams. - Manage and reconcile indirect tax-related general ledger accounts. - Assist with testing transactions in ERP system to determine if set up yields correct results. Develop the test cases and test plans that are needed to validate that systems compute and behave properly. - Assist in directing and providing oversight to the company's accounting principles, practices, and procedures. - Answer accounting procedure questions and maintain financial security by following internal controls. - Comply with federal, state, local and company financial reporting and legal requirements. - Assist with the development and tracking of key performance metrics. - Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
