HCCC ICARE Post-Bac Fellowship Program

We offer a fellowship program to prepare future cancer researchers through hands-on lab experience and mentorship.

The Iowa Cancer Research Experience (ICARE) program aims to expand the cancer research workforce, including individuals who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in biomedical science, data science, population health, public health, or a health profession. The goal of this program is to expose post-baccalaureate participants to cancer research and provide career development activities that will prepare them for a future in the field. The American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/)helps fund this program.

• Are graduating from an undergraduate institution in 2026 or 2027
  
  
  
  • Preference given to applicants with a GPA of at least 3.0; applications accepted with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  
  
  
  
• Intend to pursue a doctoral degree in biomedical science, data science, population health, public health, or a health profession
• Are looking to gain more research experience and help strengthen their graduate school or medical school applications
• Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
