Position Purpose

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking a lead instructor and supervisor for secondary school social studies student teaching to be taught for the fall semester of 2026.

Job Responsibilities

Lead instructor of student teaching seminar for social studies education students. Roles involve creating and monitoring a class online webpage (ICON), creating a course syllabus, attending weekly student teaching seminar meetings, and observing student teachers.

Other Duties

Assisting with the assignment of student teaching field placement, networking with regional educators who serve as cooperating teachers, and mentoring student teachers as they develop their skills as professional educators.

Education Requirement

Master's Degree in an education-related field.

Qualifications

Must have a teaching license in the United States.

Required Experience

Must have successfully completed a minimum of three years of teaching at the Middle School, Junior High School, or High School level in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary teaching experience.
