Location: The Glenn West St Paul Pay Range: $53,000 - $55,000 per year Schedule: Full-Time Monday-Friday (periodical evening or weekend if special event is planned)

Great Lakes Management is seeking a dynamic, creative, and compassionate Life Enrichment Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our Activity and Volunteer Programs. This role is responsible for designing and implementing engaging programs that meet the social, physical, mental, emotional, and sensory needs of our Independent Living (IL), Assisted Living (AL), and Memory Care (MC) residents. Position Overview
The Activity Director is responsible for planning, promoting, budgeting, and leading a comprehensive campus-wide activities program. This individual ensures a well-rounded and engaging calendar of events while supervising activity staff and volunteers to deliver meaningful, consistent programming.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Leadership
Plan, promote, budget, and facilitate engaging activities and special events. Develop and manage the monthly campus calendar for IL, AL, and MC residents. Ensure activities are properly supervised by staff or trained volunteers. Lead activities as necessary to ensure success and consistency. Evaluate programming to meet current and future resident needs. Coordinate transportation for off-site outings and accompany residents on field trips as needed.
Volunteer & Community Engagement
Promote and recruit volunteers. Train, supervise, and recognize volunteers. Maintain volunteer files including background checks, references, and evaluations. Work with vendors (entertainers, educators, musicians, spiritual leaders) to enrich programming. Collaborate with Resident Council and committees to plan and evaluate resident-selected programs.
Communication & Newsletter
Compliance & Professionalism
Adhere to all company policies and ensure Activities team compliance. Represent the organization consistent with mission and values. Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
BA in Gerontology, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services, or Activity Director Certification OR 2+ years of experience working with senior programs. Minimum of 2 years of activities experience in retirement, assisted living, or long-term care. Strong creativity in planning engaging programs. Experience with group leadership and one-on-one resident engagement. Supervisory experience preferred. Financial planning and budgeting experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to drive the activities bus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and sound judgment.
