Position Summary

Clinical Science Liaison (CSL) is a senior clinical leader responsible for delivering subject matter expertise that drives provider engagement, supports commercial strategy, and enables successful drug launches across oncology, rare disease, and cell and gene therapy.

This is a highly visible, field-based role that partners cross-functionally with business development, marketing, operations, and provider-facing teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and impactful clinical communication. The Clinical Science Liaison also leads key initiatives in education, advocacy engagement, and clinical content strategy, serving as a trusted expert to both internal stakeholders and external providers.

Location: Remote (U.S.-based); must reside within 30 minutes of a major airport. Preference for Dallas-Fort Worth, TX or Cary, NC.
Travel: 75%, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Provider & Field Engagement

  • Serve as the primary clinical partner to the provider-facing sales organization.

  • Design and implement structured clinical education programs, including curriculum development and success metrics.

  • Deliver high-impact education (live and virtual) on disease states, treatment landscapes, and therapies.

Drug Launch Leadership

  • Support clinical strategy and execution across all phases of drug launches (pre-launch, launch, post-launch).

  • Partner with Business Development to translate early insights into actionable plans across internal teams.

  • Ensure alignment of clinical messaging, training, and materials across the organization.

Clinical Communications & Content Strategy

  • Act as a subject matter expert in oncology, rare disease, and cell and gene therapy.

  • Ensure accurate, compliant dissemination of clinical information.

  • Oversee development and maintenance of clinical resources (tear sheets, educational materials, digital content).

  • Maintain accurate therapy information (indications, dosing, administration, access) across platforms in a centralized system.

Conference, Advocacy & External Engagement

  • Identify and participate in key national and regional conferences, advocacy events, and professional meetings.

  • Coordinate regional engagement efforts, including with ONS and other industry organizations.

  • Lead end-to-end conference execution, including planning, approvals, ROI tracking, and follow-up.

  • Support or lead abstract, poster, and presentation strategy and development.

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinically relevant field (e.g., Nursing) strongly preferred.

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MSN, PhD, or equivalent) preferred.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years in clinical or field-based liaison roles.

  • Experience in oncology and/or rare disease.

  • Proven success supporting or leading drug launches.

  • Experience working with providers, advocacy organizations, and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with conference strategy, abstract development, and clinical presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in specialty pharmacy or highly specialized therapeutic areas.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Advanced clinical analysis and interpretation capabilities.

  • Proven project and program management skills.

  • Established relationships within oncology and rare disease communities.

  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy distribution models and payer/provider dynamics.

  • Pharmaceutical sales experience.

  • Experience building and scaling clinical education programs and content.

Working Conditions

  • Remote, field-based role.

  • Ability to travel 75%, including evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • General office demands.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $115,400 - $192,400
