Ready to make a difference in associates' lives while building your HR expertise? We're hiring an HR Generalist to join our dynamic Human Resources team at our Newport News facility! This role offers the perfect blend of hands-on HR experience across the full associate lifecycle - from recruiting and onboarding to performance management and everything in between.

This position reports to the HR Manager and offers excellent opportunities for career advancement in Human Resources. YourDay-to-Day:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding- Partner with recruiting teams on interview panels, make hiring recommendations, develop offer letters, and lead new hire orientation while managing background checks and medical assessments in Workday

Performance Management- Lead performance review processes for hourly associates, provide coaching and development plans with front-line leaders, and serve as HR Business Partner to operational leadership

Associate Relations- Handle associate relations issues, progressive discipline, investigations, and exit interviews whilemaintainingconfidentiality and exercising sound judgment in sensitive situations

Benefits & Compliance- Manage benefits administration, open enrollment, qualifying events, and execute compliance activities for corporate policies and federal/state laws including FMLA, ADA, and COBRA

Training & Development- Conduct associate training and HR classes on performance management and Workday while supporting talent development processes and individual development plans

HR Operations- Process payroll approvals, time corrections, HRIS transactions, and support implementation of company-wide HR initiatives and projects

Program Management- Oversee Social Responsibility programs and community relations while supporting Food Safety initiatives and various HR projects


Required:
  • Experience:Background in associate relations, conflict management, and HR investigations
  • Regulatory Knowledge:Understanding of HR laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, COBRA, EEOC, HIPAA)
  • Benefits Expertise:Knowledge of benefits administration and compliance requirements
  • Communication:Strong written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels
  • Analysis Skills:Data analysis and presentation abilities toidentifytrends and address opportunities
  • Flexibility:Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and projects

Advanced Skills:
  • HR Certification:SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar professional HR certification
  • Investigation Skills:Advanced conflict resolution and workplace investigation capabilities
  • Performance Management:Deep knowledge of talent development processes and performance management systems
  • Relationship Building:Exceptional ability to influence without direct authority and build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Problem-Solving:Critical thinking skills to analyze complex challenges and exercise sound judgment
  • Discretion:Proven ability tomaintainconfidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

Work Environment:
  • Conditions:Primary office environment with daily walks through manufacturing areas requiring PPE compliance
  • Physical Requirements:Extended computer work with occasionallifting upto 25 pounds
  • Schedule:Monday-Friday standard hours with occasional flexibility to match plant schedules
  • Manufacturing Exposure:Regular interaction with production teams in an industrialenvironmentwith safety protocols
  • Collaboration:Work closely with managers, associates, and HR team members across all business units
