About The Role
Under supervision of Lender, position is training to become a Real Estate Lender. Learn how to interview customers and perform preliminary credit analysis on new and existing real estate loan applications to arrive at a conclusion to recommend approval or decline loan applications, documentation review, system input and requirements, applicable process, policies, procedures and regulations. Promote increased customer use of bank products and services to enhance customer satisfaction. Position complies with all banking laws and regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Learn how to interview customers and perform preliminary credit analysis on new and existing real estate loan applications to arrive at a conclusion to recommend approval or decline loan applications, documentation review, system input and requirements, applicable process, policies, procedures and regulations. Develop and maintain a good relationship with borrowing customers. Promote increased customer use of bank products and services to enhance customer satisfaction. Assist in the origination of loans. Ensure loan applications are complete. Process loan applications in a thorough manner. Recommend approval or denial of loans based on sound lending policies and a complete review of all aspects of the application and applicant. Assist with the post-closing process for construction loans by conducting construction inspections, reviewing loan draw requests against original cost breakdown, and approving loan draws for payment. Prepare written loan evaluation on loans exceeding authorized lending limit and present evaluation to supervisor. Assist in renegotiating any changes with the borrower. Submit loan requests in a timely manner to loan processor. Maintain contact with individuals concerned with loans in process including customers, various bank departments, and title and escrow companies. Handle loan closings, including scheduling closing meetings, and collecting documentation. Assist with administration of loans to include overdraft monitoring, field audits and inspections, financial statement analysis, and review and monitoring compliance to the loan agreements. Perform periodic review of documentation and collateral for review by supervisor. Monitor past due status on loans originated. May make collection intervention to prevent loss to the bank. May work with collectors on past dues and delinquencies. Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Maintain strict confidentiality of customer's personal and financial information. Develop and improve skills through training programs and regular feedback discussions with supervisors which help further professional development. Participate in all training sessions and complete all assigned OnCourse training courses and achieve a passing score by due date. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance to accomplish essential job functions including in-person contact with internal and external customers. Position performs other duties as needed/assigned. About You QUALIFICATIONS: Two to five years of similar or related experience. Bachelor's degree (preferred degrees: business or finance). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must maintain an active, current registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment. Must possess current valid driver's license. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Working knowledge of standard office equipment. Skills in areas related to computer operation/use including working knowledge of Microsoft applications and ability to learn new systems/applications. Proven ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and make effective referrals. Excellent attention to detail, organization skills, and problem-solving abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer experience. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in this position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise. Must be capable of up to 50% travel (e.g. 2 weeks or 10 days per month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
