How you make a difference in this role:

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, and dedicated physician to serve as the Primary Care Physician for the Henderson County Health Department in the West Region providing supervision in public health related programs and services throughout the health department. The West Region has an estimated population of more than 526,000 and consists of 19 counties. Within these counties there are 11 health department clinic sites that provide primary care services. The incumbent will be responsible for managing approximately 3-4 Advance Nurse Practitioners.

Job Overview:

The Primary Care Physician will strengthen the clinical care delivery system to improve access to care in Henderson County Health Department. This individual will promote, protect, and improve the health of people in Tennessee by increasing the participation in community-focused initiatives, placing special focus on healthy weight and nutrition, physical activity, tobacco prevention, infant mortality, immunizations, substance abuse, unintended pregnancy, built environment and other primary prevention initiatives to make communities more livable and attractive.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual will deliver direct patient services daily in adherence with current Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners rules and Regulations, Tennessee Department of Health Primary Care Guidelines as well as other program specific guidelines. They will examine, diagnose, and treat patients in the health department clinics. This individual will participate in the process to set county performance plan goals and appropriately manage resources to allow efficient production of work. The Primary Care Physician will assist in providing overall administration and guidance to the primary care program for the Henderson County Health Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Hold a current Medical License to practice in the state of Tennessee. Primary Care Experience. Graduation from an accredited medical school or university. Experience supervising Advance Nurse Practitioners.
