Title: Data & Reporting Analyst

$27.43 - $31.06 / Posted Thru: 6/12/2026



Location: Must work and Live in the state of Michigan

2 days per week in office during probationary period

Potential for remote work afterward based on operational needs



Purpose: This position collaborates with the Cancer Prevention and Control Section Data Team to perform data and analytical tasks necessary for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control and Navigation Program (BC3NP) and the Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation (WISEWOMAN) program. Data for both programs are housed in the Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Information System (MBCIS). The individual, in collaboration with the Data Team, will maintain the BC3NP/WISEWOMAN report process and develop other reports as needed. The individual will assist with federal data reporting requirements for programs within the Cancer Section and will work with database programming staff to support maintenance and improvements to database software.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Cancer Section Data Team to do data/analytical tasks necessary for BC3NP and WISEWOMAN programs.

  • Maintain the collection, storage, and quality of data collected for BC3NP and the WISEWOMAN program.
  • Use SAP Business Objects to query and download appropriate data from MBCIS, using SQL language.
  • Develop appropriate data summaries on database subgroups for special studies of the program clients.
  • Create/modify SPSS/SQL system files as needed.
  • Support the development of the minimum data elements (MDE) file twice a year.
  • Participate in data presentations and data related training as needed.
  • Work with BC3NP and WISEWOMAN teams to explore new application of program data and the data system.
  • Provide support to reimbursement staff regarding healthcare claims data within MBCIS.



Collaborate with the Data Team to maintain the BC3NP/WISEWOMAN report process and develop other reports as needed.



  • Produce program reports using MBCIS data that include tables, graphs, and/or documents for program administration, presentations, and publications.
  • Use Business Objects or SPSS/SAS to maintain reports for use by local agency staff.
  • Maintain, run, and follow up on monthly data quality improvement reports.
  • Develop reports requested by program staff on a routine cadence.
  • Interpret the results of reports and communicate findings to program staff.
  • Collaborate in defining and obtaining program performance indicators.
  • Assist with grant applications, especially with regard to caseload data-related issues.



Work with database programming staff to maintain database and reporting tool software and related requirements.



  • Work with program staff and partners to identify MBCIS, Business Objects, and file transfer service improvements and communicate improvements to database programming staff (DTMB).
  • Monitor and support the completion of MBCIS, Business Objects, and file transfer service improvements and enhancements, ensuring changes meet program needs.
  • Support the completion of security and compliance requirements for program database and reporting tool applications.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for program database and reporting tool applications.
  • Develop user manuals or job aids related to program database and reporting tool applications as needed.
  • Always represent the best interests of MPHI and MDHHS.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major required; at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in data sciences, statistics, research methods, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Two or more years of related professional experience.

  • Knowledge and experience with personal computers and applications; ability to learn and utilize computer processes.
  • Experience with very large datasets, data merging, and data cleaning.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of research and analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and report statistical and programmatic data to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to organize, evaluate, and present information effectively.
  • Ability to formulate plans, procedures, and controls in a program or service area.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate a variety of data for use in program development and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the tools of management, such as methods development, procedural manuals, training materials, records and reports, and studies applicable in supporting programs or services.
  • Ability to adapt and translate programmatic needs for database systems and reporting tool software.
  • Ability to independently problem solve when needed.
  • Should work well with people including staff, contractors, and funding agencies.
  • Should possess effective oral and written communication skills.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Standard office environment. Requires valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position. Frequent deadlines. Capacity for in-state and out-of-state travel for related meetings.
