Job Summary

Drexel Club Sports is seeking an Ice Hockey Coach to teach, coach, train and motivate student athletes on an individual and group basis. This position will work on-campus on an hourly basis. The Coach will help develop and support the Club Ice Hockey program and work with students of different levels of expertise.

Essential Functions



  • Teach, coach, train and motivate student-athletes to perform at the highest level through organized team Practice sessions.
  • Prepare and organize practice plans to enhance team performance for games.
  • Foster an environment within the Ice Hockey program that supports the department mission of personal growth and integrity, diversity, leadership, sportsmanship, and a commitment to athletic and academic excellence.
  • Travel with the team to all athletic competitions.
  • Prepare all student-athletes with a game-plan designed to facilitate their growth as an athlete and provide the team with the best ability to win.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive environment where all athletes feel welcomed regardless of background or skill level.
  • Create a manage a program that retains, educates, and graduates its student-athletes. This encompasses the off-ice portions of player growth, specifically professionally and philanthropically.
  • Evaluate incoming talent and prospective student-athletes to the Drexel Ice Hockey Program. Further facilitate the programs growth as it pursues the goal of becoming an NCAA team.
  • Stay up to date with modern NHL and NCAA strategy to give Drexel the best chance of remaining competitive.
  • Communicate with all constituents of the program including staff, faculty, and students.
  • Help current student leaders establish a strong foundation of alumni support.
  • Ensure that the program complies with all University, Club Sport, Governing Body and Recreational Athletics rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping
  • Typically running, climbing
  • Lifting demands > 50lbs

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
