The Opportunity
In this role, you will support cybersecurity-related service activities for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, and high-voltage substations within Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business. You will work hands-on with Windows machines, virtual machines, industrial devices, and networked systems-installing, configuring, backing up, restoring, patching, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting key technical activities. Your work will help keep critical infrastructure environments operating as intended by supporting secure, reliable communication and system performance across power industry applications. You will also build practical experience in IT/OT environments, virtualization, industrial networking, and security standards used in grid-connected systems, while contributing to service work that supports dependable and modern power delivery. How You'll Make an Impact
- Install and configure Windows machines, virtual machines, and industrial devices used in service environments.
- Provision virtual machines from various types of backup files to support system recovery and deployment needs.
- Execute backup and restoration activities for computers, industrial devices, and network devices.
- Configure and troubleshoot communication issues between computers and other networked devices.
- Apply patches to devices and perform functionality tests to confirm expected operation.
- Produce documentation and reports based on tests performed and activities completed.
- Support cybersecurity-related service work associated with FACTS, HVDC, and HV substation environments.
- Travel approximately 50% to support service execution and customer needs.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in IT and networking.
- Knowledge of Windows operating system fundamentals, including installation and configuration, user administration, policies, and backup and restore.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including network architecture, network communication protocols such as TCP/UDP, SMB, and DNS.
- Experience with network shares, switches and routers configuration (no vendor specific), and network setup and configuration on Windows machines.
- Knowledge of security fundamentals, including threats and vulnerabilities, and standards such as NIST 800, IEC 64443, and NERC CIP.
- Working knowledge of Wireshark, nmap, VMWare/ESXI, and HyperV.
