This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Medical Director/Principal Investigator (PI), the Mental Health Counselor will support the UCSD HEAR (Healer Education, Assessment, and Referral) Program for all UCSD Health employees. Responsibilities include leading outreach and education efforts, facilitating emotional processing and debriefs following critical incidents, and providing clinical care and short-term therapeutic support for individuals experiencing distress, burnout, depression, suicidal ideation, or other concerns. The Counselor will conduct confidential assessments, help manage an anonymous suicide prevention screening process, and provide personalized mental health referrals based on need. Additional duties include assisting with research protocols and reporting, serving as a liaison between the HEAR team and partnering programs, and contributing to new initiatives that advance healthcare worker well-being and suicide prevention. Other assignments may be completed as directed by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in related area (i.e. psychology, social work, marriage/family therapy).

  • Licensed in behavioral health counseling discipline (Psychologist, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC).

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards. Advanced knowledge of a specific counseling domain.

  • Advanced knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.

  • Advanced ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic approach and modify as necessary.

  • Advanced ability to develop and present educational programs and / or workshops.

  • Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication with the ability to influence and persuade.

  • Skills associated with program development and implementation.

  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications / systems used in behavioral health settings.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $117,179 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $56.12 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
