Primary Job Function

To perform standardized physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process materials, finished materials, and special materials as designated. The nature of this job is such that the job holder must exhibit the skills, knowledge and understanding of quality control concepts and processes within a manufacturing environment.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Performance of chemical analysis and physical test on various materials.
  • Completion/maintenance of written records of all pertinent test data required and reporting of results in database.
  • Performance of sampling and incoming inspection as required.
  • Assisting engineers on testing and trials as need dictates.
  • Performance of the quality tests as required.
  • Ensure a culture of behavior-based safety by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines in all activities, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Training and assistance of newly hired operators as needed.
  • Other duties specified as needed by supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math - including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Familiarity with inorganic qualitative/quantitative analyses. College level course work/equivalent experience a plus.
  • Possesses a minimum of two (2) years quality control experience (preferred) in a manufacturing environment
  • Good attention to detail and can work independently with minimal direction
  • The ability to interpret and understand lab instructions, sampling plans, and ASTM standards.
  • Maintaining quality output by performing validation testing and initiating approval or corrective action as required.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.
  • Working in a safe manner and following all safety requirements.

Working Conditions

Lab environment, as well as non climate-controlled factory environment; Concrete flooring that may be slippery at times due to graphite. Frequent lifting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping is required as part of this position. Exposure to audible and visual alarms, lights, etc. PPE may be required as appropriate. Burn risk due to small furnaces.

Compensation, Benefits and Shift Hours

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay Rate: Full Rate at $23.10/Hour

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

1st Shift: 6:45am - 3:00pm

2nd Shift: 2:45pm - 11:00pm

3rd Shift: 10:45pm - 7:00am
