About the Position:

The Technical Sales Engineer is a key driver of growth and innovation within our steel melting operations. In this role, you'll combine your technical expertise with hands on industry insight to help customers across a wide range of industries solve complex operational challenges. You'll work closely with production and engineering teams to understand customer issues, develop tailored solutions, and prepare compelling technical proposals that showcase our capabilities.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving intricate operational problems, building strong customer relationships, and supporting the full lifecycle of equipment-from new system sales to aftermarket services including maintenance planning, component refurbishment, and on site field support. What You'll Do:



  • Reviews inquiries, establishes pricing, and develops steel ingot or billet process plan
  • Responsible for managing the sales for EQS and ENS, and supporting the sales of other Ellwood business units, as applicable and necessary.
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of applicable steelmaking and downstream processes.
  • Responsible for making credit decisions in conjunction with Finance on customers.
  • Travel is required (local, national and international), typically 25-30% of the time to customers for sales calls or in response to technical service inquiries, as needed.
  • Assists sales staff in technical inquiries, order planning, scheduling, and product disposition.
  • Coordinates and oversees customer orders and deliveries.
  • Responsible for tracking profitability of products and orders, as well as managing customer WIP and stock inventory levels.
  • Identify, suggest, and implement improvement opportunities in the sales and customer service processes for EQS and ENS.
  • Offers technical and operational expertise to customers.
  • Responsible for coordinating the investigation to conclusion and resolution of customer claims in conjunction with Metallurgy.


What You'll Need:




  • Bachelor Degree required or a commensurate level of experience; Metallurgy or Material Science Degree is preferred.



  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in sales/marketing function in steel producing market preferred.


  • Commitment to safety
  • Ability and willingness to travel, when necessary
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Must be able to work with types of people
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn
