ABOUT THE ROLE
The GSW New Hire Training Coordinator is responsible for delivering engaging, consistent, and thorough orientation training to all new employees across the organization. This includes field personnel such as linemen, groundmen, apprentices, and foremen, as well as office and leadership roles including project managers and operations managers. The trainer serves as the first impression of the company's culture, values, and safety expectations for every new hire. Company Overview Established in 1977, Great Southwestern Construction, Inc. - Training Delivery
- Facilitate new hire orientation sessions covering company history, organizational structure, benefits, safety culture, and workplace expectations
- Provide Smith vehicle training
- Deliver training content to diverse audiences ranging from field craft workers to office and management personnel, adapting communication style as needed
- Present safety culture topics including the company's prevention-first philosophy, incident reporting procedures, Task Hazard Analysis (THA) processes, Good Catches, and Focused Observations
- Introduce new hires to key company systems and tools (e.g., MYR HUB, Vector, Dashpivot, M2M, Teams) at an overview level appropriate to each role
- Communication & Engagement
- Create a welcoming and professional environment that reflects the company's values and commitment to safety
- Communicate clearly and confidently to groups of varying sizes and backgrounds
- Answer new hire questions about company policies, benefits, and day-to-day expectations
- Serve as a point of contact for new employees during their initial onboarding period
- Program Support & Coordination
- Coordinate orientation scheduling with HR, Safety, and Operations departments
- Maintain and update training materials, presentations, and handouts to reflect current policies and procedures
- Track attendance and completion of orientation requirements
- Gather feedback from new hires and stakeholders to continuously improve the orientation experience
- Assist with the development of supplemental training content as needed
- Administrative
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation
- Ensure all orientation materials comply with company standards and regulatory requirements
- Support other training initiatives and department projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Essential Functions of this position are to be performed at a Company designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in training delivery, facilitation, teaching, or a related role
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the construction, utility, or energy industry
- Minimum 3 years of experience with learning management systems (LMS) or digital training platforms
- Advanced familiarity with safety programs, OSHA standards, or construction safety culture
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Preferred Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Education, Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Approachable, patient, and able to build rapport quickly with new hires
- Ability to convey information clearly and professionally to audiences ranging from field crews to senior management
- Comfortable adjusting presentation style and content depth based on the audience
- Comfortable presenting to groups in both classroom and virtual settings
- Genuine commitment to workplace safety and the ability to convey its importance to new employees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Capable of managing scheduling, materials, and records for frequent orientation cycles
- Familiarity with safety programs, OSHA standards, or construction safety culture
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple orientation sessions per week
- Ability to stand and present for extended periods
- Primarily office/classroom-based with occasional visits to field job sites - some travel may be required for regional orientation sessions or field site visits

- Salary
- Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
