Job Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow position provides diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with speech, language or hearing disorders in an outpatient setting, and on telehealth. We are seeking a candidate with experience in, and passion for, working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) patient population and to support a 50/50 caseload of DHH and general speech and language disorders.

The CF position is an entry level role, for up to 12 months, with onsite supervision provided, and the possibility of moving into an SLP1 position once CCC's are awarded. Intermediate proficiency in American Sign Language is preferred and participation in a graduate program focused on DHH [and/or internship experience in this area] is required.

The Speech Language Pathologist - Clinical Fellow will apply and integrate knowledge from graduate education and clinical experience by providing diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with speech, language, learning, feeding/swallowing or hearing disorders in all settings in which services are offered including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, outreach and telehealth programs. The SLP-CF will practice with supervision in accordance with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requirements for the SLP-CF to apply for ASHA's Clinical Certificate of Competency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Clinician completes diagnostic evaluations consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
2. Clinician provides developmentally appropriate intervention services consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
3. Clinician collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect.
4. Clinician completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards.
Supervision Requirements
The SLP Clinical Fellow will work under the supervision of an ASHA certified SLP who holds the Clinical Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). The Clinical Fellowship Year is divided into three segments with the SLP-CCC mentor providing a minimum of 6 hours of direct supervision and 6 hours of indirect supervision completed during each segment. The SLP-CF must complete a minimum of 1,260 hours of clinical experience to apply for ASHA CCC.

A minimum of 80% of the CF experience must be spent in direct clinical contact related:
Examples of direct clinical contact include the following:
* Screening, Response to Intervention (RtI), and/or observations of the client/patient
* Assessment/diagnostic evaluations
* Treatment
* Writing of reports, notes; billing
* Family/client consultation
* Family/client counseling
* Up to 20% of the CF experience may be spent doing other activities such as attending in-services or providing trainings and presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or related field.

Experience: Graduate program focus and/or internship experience working with deaf/hard-of-hearing children. Intermediate level proficiency with American Sign Language preferred. Experience with pediatric hearing loss, cochlear implants; Intermediate Proficiency in American Sign Language strongly preferred

Certification(s): BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR

Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Provisional Speech - Language Pathologist Licensure

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $58,900.08 to $88,350.12
