Job Overview

This position specializes in design of Engineered to Order (ETO) Rotary Air Compressors to meet the specific requirements of individual orders and customers. This includes the control & electrical systems design plus primary ownership of electrical and control systems design, including acting as the electrical subject-matter expert for custom orders, as well as selection of air systems, lube oil systems, sheet metal enclosures & structural skids. Ensures the accurate completion of drawings and bill of materials by implementing new and unique solutions to existing product platforms with particular emphasis on electrical BOM accuracy, compliance, and integration. Assists and supports other departments engineers with electrical design expertise to ensure projects are completed on time and to department quality standards.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage technical activities by serving as project engineer and technical reference for custom orders

  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering resource for ETO compressor designs, supporting both assigned projects and other engineers

  • Provide electrical design guidance, review, and mentoring to fellow ETO engineers

  • Interpret project scope document and translate into compressor technical requirements

  • Create new or revise existing drawings and bill of materials to meet specific order requirement

  • Perform design analysis and calculations with accuracy. Follow good engineering practices and develop practical solutions.

  • Identify multiple solutions, perform trade off studies and select optimum solutions

  • Coordinate the completion of 2D & 3D technical drawings including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Electrical Schematics & General Arrangement drawings

  • Engineering support of assigned projects from order receipt through shipmen

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and challenges

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams




Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • 4+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70/79 and electrical design standards



Core Competencies:


  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Industrial experience in electro-mechanical machine design and manufacturing environments

  • Experience with design of motor control systems

  • Experience with motors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, instrumentation, electrical controls, power distribution & piping design

  • Experience creating and maintaining bill of materials through an ERP system.

  • Experience with an Engineering Change system / process

  • Experience with drawing / technical document management

  • Creo, Windchill & Oracle, experience a plus



Preferences:


  • Experience with CAD tools (Creo preferred)

  • Familiarity with Windchill, Oracle, or similar systems

  • Experience with motor control systems, power distribution, and instrumentation

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and engineering change processes

  • Experience working with global or cross-functional engineering teams


Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:


  • This position is based onsite in Mocksville, NC, with standard working hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Limited travel is expected.
