Summer 2026 Intern - Finance Systems

The Finance Systems Intern will work on a team that oversees the installation, routine maintenance, upgrades and daily support of the network, server and storage software. This role assists in the day-to-day operation of Workiva's systems, and is constantly looking for ways to better meet internal customer needs.

What You'll Do

• System Health: Monitor and maintain finance systems to ensure they run smoothly and support daily business operations.

• Infrastructure Support: Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of end-user computing and telecommunication systems.

• Data Pipelines: Build and manage data flows from Snowflake into accounting dashboards, ensuring all reported figures are accurate and complete.

• Automation: Create and maintain Workato "recipes" to automate reporting controls within Sage Intacct and other finance tools.

• Custom Scripting: Develop Python scripts and automation solutions to reduce manual data entry for the Accounting team.

• App Administration: Perform configurations and testing (UAT) across the finance stack, including Sage Intacct, Coupa, Blackline, SAP Concur, and Avalara.

• AI Integration: Help configure and test MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to connect our internal AI/LLMs with Finance workflows.

• Connectivity: Set up SFTP connections and manage REST API calls to ensure different finance applications share data correctly.

• Close Support: Provide technical troubleshooting during month-end close to help the team resolve system issues and meet deadlines.

What You'll Need
Minimum Qualifications

• Must be actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Network Administration or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of Python and SQL.

• Basic understanding of REST APIs and how systems integrate.

• Interest in workflow automation tools (e.g., Workato, MuleSoft, or Boomi).

• Exposure to cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or RedShift.

• Familiarity with finance software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Coupa, Blackline, or Workiva).

• Basic understanding of accounting practices, such as the monthly close cycle and revenue recognition.

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

• Minimal travel

• Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office
