Domestic Animal Health Inspector - Parx Racetrack

In this position, you will support the safe and proper handling of animals in a variety of settings and help maintain confidence in animal health practices at Parx Racetrack. As a Domestic Animal Health Inspector, you will perform the following duties:

• Sample Collection: Collect blood and tissue samples from animals for testing and diagnostic needs
• Animal Handling: Handle animals safely using approved physical or chemical restraint methods
• Facility Inspection: Inspect locations where animals are kept or sold to confirm adherence to cleanliness and regulatory standards
• Regulation Compliance: Check for proper licensing, quarantine measures, and disease control practices
• Emergency Response: Assist in field efforts during animal health emergencies in cooperation with state and federal partners

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Hours subject to change based on racing schedule
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Graduation from an approved Veterinary Medical Technology Training program and two (2) years of experience in the raising or handling of animals used for a variety of commercial purposes including food animals and farm animals; or
• A bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Dairy Science, Poultry Science, or a closely related area with at least 16 credits in animal science; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid class C driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• This position requires current certification as a Poultry Technician or the ability to gain certification during the probationary period.

Other Requirements:

• This position will require possession of a Commission Employee License once hired
