As a member of PHS Quality Institute and Processs Excellence, the Continuous Improvement Consultant, Senior successfully deploys the Presbyterian Daily Management System to facilities, leaders, and front-line departments. Deployment activities include training, group or one-on-one coaching with senior leaders through staff, consulting on the Daily Management system, improvement facilitation, and strategy deployment facilitation.The Continuous Improvement Consultant, Senior is responsible for adapting the PDMS to departments and facilities according to their unique needs. Responsibilities:

The Continuous Improvement Consultant, Senior is a subject matter expert on all aspects of the Presbyterian Daily Management System and on A3 and related improvement methodologies.

  • Train PHS staff and leaders in all aspects of the Presbyterian Daily Management System (PDMS).
  • Develop training content to effectively teach the PDMS, in coordination with Talent Development
  • Facilitate and coach the PDMS at the front line, with managers, directors, and executive leaders
  • Take primary responsibility for a large PDMS deployment, such as a hospital or division, managing all major aspects of the deployment including project management and maintaining relationships with senior leaders.
  • Use behavioral coaching with leaders and staff, according to the PDMS ideal behaviors and in a way that integrates other culture change initiatives such as Just Culture.
  • Deploy and coach tiered huddles at tier 1 (front line / leader level 5) through tier 4 (division or business entity / leader level 2).
  • Facilitate and coach improvement efforts of low to high complexity using standardized methodology, including A3, Rapid Improvement Events, and related improvement methods to help teams solve strategically-aligned and staff-focused problems.
  • Work with teams to maintain strategic alignment of process and outcome metrics, key behavioral indicators, huddles, and improvement work via the strategy deployment process.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize multiple PDMS deployment departments, meet deadlines, and manage multiple customer relationships using workplans, timelines, and measures.
  • Perform and facilitate behavioral assessments on leaders and DMS deployment departments.
  • Facilitate standardization across like departments through sharing of best practices.
  • Coach fellow Process Excellence team members on DMS facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Apply system design methods, the Shingo Model, Lean thinking, and other operational excellence knowledge bases to develop, refine, and annually improve the PDMS.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required; masters degree preferred
  • Seven years experience in quality, quality improvement, operations, or business support functions in an environment that uses quality and/or lean daily management; or 5 years of such experience plus Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, ASME Lean Silver, Certified Quality Engineer, or similar certification; including 3 years dedicated quality improvement or lean facilitation experience."
