The Dockmaster Security Professional is responsible for coordinating and managing all loading dock activity at the corporate office building. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and organized flow of delivery vehicles entering and exiting the loading dock area. The Dockmaster will operate in a fast paced busy loading dock area and serve as the primary point of coordination between delivery drivers, building management, tenants, and security personnel. Previous experience running dock operations or package logistics is desired. $26 per hour Primary Responsibilities Loading Dock Traffic Management - Prevent congestion by coordinating vehicle staging, parking, and departure.
- Ensure safe movement of trucks and service vehicles within the dock area.
- Maintain orderly traffic flow and enforce building loading dock rules.
Delivery Coordination - Verify all deliveries against the daily delivery schedule provided by building management.
- Confirm the name of the company, delivery contact, and tenant receiving the shipment.
- Direct drivers to the appropriate dock door or staging area.
- Coordinate arrival times with scheduled delivery windows when applicable.
- Notify tenants or building contacts when deliveries arrive, if required.
Driver Interaction and Access Control - Serve as the primary point of contact for all delivery drivers entering the loading dock.
- Provide instructions regarding dock procedures, safety requirements, and staging locations.
- Ensure drivers comply with site rules and safety protocols.
- Deny access to unscheduled or unauthorized deliveries unless cleared by building management.
Monitoring and Documentation - Maintain a log of all deliveries and vehicles entering and exiting the dock area.
- Record delivery company name, arrival time, departure time, and dock assignment.
- Document any irregularities such as late deliveries, unscheduled trucks, or safety concerns.
- Report operational issues or incidents to building management or security leadership.
Safety and Compliance - Monitor the loading dock area to ensure safe operations at all times.
- Ensure trucks follow designated traffic patterns and safety procedures.
- Immediately report hazards, accidents, or unsafe conditions to building management.
- Support compliance with building safety policies and local regulations.
Communication - Maintain clear communication with building management, tenant representatives, and security personnel.
- Relay delivery updates or schedule changes when necessary.
- Coordinate with security staff if additional assistance or incident response is required.
Workstation and Equipment The Dockmaster will operate from the guard booth attached to the loading dock and will be provided with: - A delivery schedule from building management
- Communication devices (radio or phone)
- Dock traffic logs or delivery tracking system
- Building dock policies and procedures
Performance Expectations - Maintain professional interaction with drivers, tenants, and building staff.
- Ensure deliveries are processed efficiently without unnecessary delays.
- Maintain accurate records of dock activity.
- Promote a safe and organized loading dock environment at all times.
Minimum Requirements: - Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience
