Job Summary Glendale Community College (GCC) is seeking a self-motivated, full-time Wellness and Fitness Technician Senior to provide oversight and training assistance to individuals using the GCC Fitness Centers and fitness equipment. This position will also assist with daily fitness center operations, including, but not limited to, assisting with fitness enrollments, conducting orientations, preparing, maintaining, and retrieving reports; managing administrative tasks such as record-keeping of reports and files, collaboration with marketing, and program promotion. This position will assist in overseeing and training part-time employees, student workers, and interns. This position must be able to work as a team player, prioritize tasks, provide attention to detail, collaborate with others, have strong communication and organization skills, and demonstrate a commitment to service excellence and student success, and provide high-quality fitness and wellness in a community college setting. Essential Functions 30% Monitors and oversees participants and use of fitness equipment in the Fitness Centers. Provides fitness program assistance and training to participants. Demonstrates proper fitness exercise techniques and equipment use procedures. 30% Performs administrative duties related to the day-to-day operations of the GCC Fitness Centers, including, but not limited to, assisting with: enrollments and registrations, preparation and retrieving information for reports and programs, filing and document management, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, monitoring inventory levels of office and general supplies, assisting with purchasing, compiling meeting notes, maintaining contact lists, participating in staff and department meetings, conducting basic research (e.g., equipment, quotes, etc.), copy and print requests. Communicates clearly and professionally with students, employees, and members of the community via phone calls, emails, in-person, etc. 15% Serves as a lead worker in assigning and monitoring the work of others. Assists with onboarding and monitoring of part-time staff, student employees, and interns; organizing and leading training sessions and providing ongoing mentorship and support. Receives and responds to equipment related issues, student issues, and concerns not resolved at a lower level. 10% Community collaboration and membership building including GCC Fitness Centers and fitness and wellness program promotion. Participate in campus/community events, including onsite, offsite, and outdoor events. Assists with planning and event logistics. Assists with oversight of fitness programs. Works in collaboration with marketing department for promotional materials. Assists with website updates, creating and distributing semester materials, and social media. 10% Conducts orientation sessions providing introduction and overview of fitness program and equipment. Receives and responds to fitness program and equipment related inquiries. Assists in evaluating equipment needs and making recommendations for equipment acquisition and replacement. 5% Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED supplemented by training and/or coursework in exercise physiology, physical fitness or related field and two years of experience performing fitness assessments, developing workout prescriptions and/or circuit training. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Associate's degree or higher in fitness related field, such as Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Wellness B. Current NCCA-accredited certification(s) from ACSM, NSCA, ACE, and/or NASM C. Two or more years of experience as a fitness professional with experience in exercise programming for general population, seniors, and/or other special populations D. One or more years of experience providing customer service support in a fitness facility, in areas such as assisting with registration/enrollment, handling general inquiries, day-to-day operations E. Proficiency with office productivity software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) F. Experience onboarding, training, and/or mentoring staff, interns, or student employees, preferably in a fitness facility G. One or more years of experience using one or more of the following: membership management systems/fitness tracking software (e.g., FitTrac/TracCloud), student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft), insurance-based tracking platforms (e.g., Tivity Health, RenewActive) H. One (1) year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years Special Working Conditions
