The role manages a portfolio of litigated general liability matters throughout the life cycle of each claim, including complex litigated claims and is responsible for all components of the litigation in partnership with outside counsel including, investigation, managing the reserve, discovery, analyzing liability, damages and matter resolution. The role actively engages in settlement discussions and makes decisions on litigation resolution.

What You'll be Doing:

Provides legal advice to the business areas designated by first assistant (with approval of Senior VP-General Counsel) including:

  • Advise business teams on the legal implications of business decisions.

  • Monitor and analyze impact of pending and existing laws and regulations relevant to the assigned business area and communicate impact to the business teams.

  • Collaborate with team members in the Legal Department and other areas of the Company, as needed.

  • Develop training, processes and forms to support business needs and efficiencies.

  • Work with outside legal counsel, as needed.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Juris doctorate with 3 years or more legal experience in personal injury/general liability.

  • Strong competency of legal general liability principles including liability and damages with an understanding of the governing laws, including contractual indemnity liability.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Strong analytical skills related to investigations, strategies, and discovery reviews.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to handle difficult situations.

  • Pro-active and collaborative mindset with an ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and investigative skills required.

  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within indemnity and litigation.

  • Self-driven.

  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, and embrace new challenges.

  • Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues.

  • High attention to detail.

  • The ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule.

  • Strong organizational and document management skills.

  • Works independently with periodic supervision.

  • Strong judgment and decision making.

  • The ability to assess a matter.

  • Leadership and people skills.

  • Proficient in Legal Matter Management Systems such as Origami, Outlook, Word, Legal hold systems and Discovery Tools.

We are committed to offering competitive pay that reflects market standards and ensures consistency within our organization.

The pay range for this position is listed below.

$120,750.00 - $191,000.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Your specific pay rate within this range will be based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team you'll be joining.

Compensation for this position also includes incentive bonus opportunities that may vary based on individual and company performance. Specific details will be discussed during the hiring process.
