Employment Type: Full-Time FSLA: Salary/Exempt Division: Riggs Department: Riggs Reports to: Project Manager - Riggs Supervisory Duties: No Salary Range: $76,000 - $88,000 The Self-Perform Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting estimating and project execution for self-performed construction scopes. This position is responsible for assisting with takeoffs, document review, vendor coordination, and project tracking while developing a strong understanding of construction systems, specifications, and estimating processes. The role provides hands-on exposure to both preconstruction and field operations and supports the successful delivery of projects in alignment with company standards and procedures. Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Assist in organizing project documentation, including creating project folders, uploading plans, and maintaining alignment with standard operating procedures
- Review contract documents, drawings, details, and specifications to understand scope, materials, and installation sequencing
- Perform quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff and Togal with oversight, ensuring accuracy and proper unit application
- Support development of proposals for small scopes and contribute to assumptions and qualifications
- Maintain and track project data in QuickBase to ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate pricing, ensuring consistency for estimating use
- Review manufacturer literature, shop drawings, and submittals to verify alignment with project specifications and contract documents
- Analyze addenda and identify changes impacting scope, quantities, and pricing, and document updates across estimating platforms
- Assist estimators in preparing handoff packages and reviewing submittal requirements
- Participate in training sessions, estimate reviews, and handoff meetings to build technical knowledge and understanding
- Gain field exposure by observing installations and construction processes related to self-performed work

Required Experience

- Exposure to construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, or similar tools preferred
- Willingness to learn estimating processes, field operations, and self-perform construction scopes
