Job Summary:
Conducts daily corrosion dock operations under Coatings Section. Assists with troubleshooting. Maintains, services,
and inspects aircraft, structures, systems, components, and related support equipment. Removes, installs, and conducts
functional tests of repaired aircraft systems and components. May assist in adjusting, aligning, and rigging aircraft
systems. Reads and interprets manufacturers and aircraft's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data,
engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning
or damaged components. Performs periodic and other hourly or calendar inspections as required. Removes and installs
aircraft panels, nut plates, and other associated hardware or components to accomplish corrosion inspections and Time
Compliance Technical Directives. Performs fuel cell safety checks for entrance. Repairs, modifies, fabricates, and
applies corrosion protective, low observable coatings, and markings to aircraft structures, equipment, advanced
composites, and bonded structural parts. Assembles structural parts and components using special fasteners and
adhesives to meet requirements for preserving structural integrity and low observable qualities. Identifies, removes, and
treats corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures. Receives technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors,
Leads, or higher-level technicians as required. May be required to aid writing/initiating engineering technical assistance
requests. May be required to obtain and maintain special certifications required by AFI as directed by management.
Reviews and completes forms documentation pertinent to aircraft or equipment maintenance, enters maintenance
actions into applicable Maintenance Information System (MIS) and will make entries in forms, logs, records, or
electronic equivalent as required. Complete all assignments and tasks as directed by Managers, Supervisors, Leads, and
more senior technicians.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 4 years performing as a USAF fighter aircraft Crew Chief, with 2 years on the F-35 airframe. Working
knowledge of MIS, forms documentation, and strict adherence to aircraft technical data is required.
Working Conditions:
High school diploma or GED is required. Mathematics skills are desirable.
Must speak, read, write, and understand English with the ability to interpret technical data and
special operating instructions in the same language.
Must be willing to deploy to support off-station requirements.
Performs housekeeping duties within 100 feet of assigned work areas (excluding bathrooms).
Performs vehicle use inspections, cleaning, and wash.
Performs any other supportive duties as assigned.
Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (or higher, if required).
Must be able to, if required, obtain, and maintain a government driver's license. If controlled
movement area (CMA) access is required must be able to pass color vision test.
Environment ranges from office, hangar, and flightline and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending,
pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
May be required to work in other work sections throughout the contract.
